In a recent article, McKinsey & Company shared the results of 20 interviews with leading executives in pharma about the “digital revolution.” Through the interviews, McKinsey sought to learn how pharma companies plan to stay ahead of inherent changes in the age of digital.
As a summary of their findings, the authors wrote:
“The consensus is that as healthcare continues to digitize, pharma companies must transform themselves in basic ways to stay competitive. Successful ones will rethink their business and operating models, transform their cultures and capabilities, and adopt a new, longer-term mind-set that fosters innovation and bold strategic moves.”
There are some scary ideas in there for an industry that’s slow to adopt change, but sometimes the truth is scary. And, sometimes, things that seem scary at first actually turn out to be great opportunities…which is the mindset shift we all need to make, if we’re going to survive these changes.
