Gartner, a leading information technology research and advisory company, released the findings of its Worldwide IT Spending Forecast. The report, which is released quarterly, is an indicator of trends across a variety of markets, including data center systems, enterprise software, devices, IT services, and communication services.
According to its latest forecast, Gartner projects that overall worldwide IT spending in 2017 will increase 1.4% to $3.5 trillion. Enterprise software is expected to grow 5.5% to $350 billion in 2017, the most of all markets in the survey. IT services follows right behind at a growth rate of 2.3% to $920 billion.
According to a press release from Gartner, the projected growth for the IT services market is “as a result of potential changes of direction anticipated regarding U.S. policy — both foreign and domestic. The business-friendly policies of the new U.S. administration are expected to have a slightly positive impact on the U.S. implementation service market as the U.S. government is expected to significantly increase its infrastructure spending during the next few years.”
