Career Growth Perficient Blogging(2)

Perhaps one of the most exciting aspects of working at Perficient is the opportunity to contribute and grow within the company. I’ve enjoyed my role as a Talent Acquisition Coordinator since starting in November of 2019, but I’ve found additional professional fulfillment as a Perficient blogger. Since I started blogging for Perficient, I’ve built confidence, discovered new friendships, and learned more about the incredible work we do! Keep reading to learn about my journey as a Perficient blogger, as well as how you can experience the same type of magic.

How I Got Started Blogging

When I was first informed of Perficient’s blogging program, I knew immediately I had to get involved. As an English writing major with an affinity for storytelling, I contacted the Perficient blogging team to share my interest. The team responded enthusiastically and set me up as an author on WordPress. They shared resources with me covering best blogging practices, how to use WordPress, what makes for great content, and other invaluable information. With the support of the team and training resources under my belt, I felt prepared to share Perficient’s stories with readers all over the world!

My First Post

The hottest topic of conversation within my department at the time was personality tests. That’s right: those quizzes that read into your soul and help you define who you are personally and professionally. A colleague and I had countless discussions about our interest in these assessments and how they impacted us at home and in the workplace. During our weekly team huddles, my coworkers would share their quiz results. We’d relish in discussing how strangely accurate they were and what we could learn from them! It was such a fascinating topic. I knew I needed to share what we had learned with the larger Perficient community! It became the perfect blogging subject matter.

Next came the planning process:

  • How many posts would I use to tackle my topic?
  • What would my organizational process be?
  • Were there any subject matter experts I could refer to?
  • Which colleagues were interested in sharing their personality test results?
  • Were there any deadlines I should know about or other initiatives this could plug into?

The marketing team helped me hash through my questions and I began gathering my data and created an outline for my first post. Soon enough, I was ready to post what would become Personality Tests: What Can They Do for You? Shortly after, I shared part two, Personality Tests: The Enneagram Quiz.

Perficient Blogger

Writing blogs has opened up my eyes to the breadth of knowledge and amazing coworkers I have at Perficient.

What To Write About

One of the most rewarding aspects of blogging for Perficient is the creativity to explore a topic of interest. My favorite pieces to write about are those that fall under Life At Perficient. I love telling the story of our Perficient employees — their successes, big events, showcases of great teamwork, and highlighting leaders. I think it is so important to recognize the wonderful things my colleagues are doing to be an inspiration both at work and beyond.

Life At Perficient is just one of the many topics I am free to write about. Perficient bloggers are free to write about Perficient events and news, frequently asked questions related to their work, the latest in technology, a day in their life, and so much more. I’m also not limited to just writing; there are all sorts of ways to contribute in whatever media is best for you: making a blog from a video, demo, interview, or curated list were also ideas presented to me. A blogger is limited only to their imagination! Pitch an idea to the team, and they are more than happy to help you find a direction for your post.

Benefits of Blogging for Perficient

I love writing, and so blogging is its own reward, personally. However, Perficient makes sure to recognize me and my fellow bloggers by offering incentives and by sharing our hard work on LinkedIn and other platforms.

Blogging also is a phenomenal form of professional development! I’ve had the opportunity to get to know so many amazing colleagues in departments I don’t typically interact with. Blogging has encouraged me to get involved at Perficient by attending events and being a part of our many committees. It’s helped ground me here at the company by giving me additional goals to work toward. Not to mention, I’ve learned tips and tricks to become a better blogger and writer!
