Gartner forecasts that the business intelligence (BI) and analytics market will increase 5.2% over last year, reaching $16.9 billion by the end of 2016. Ian Bertram, managing vice president at Gartner, believes “The shift to the modern BI and analytics platform has now reached a tipping point.” He urges the organizations that are lagging behind to make the “…transition to easy-to-use, fast and agile modern BI platforms to create business value from deeper insights into diverse data sources.”
On February 4, 2016, Gartner released its much revered Magic Quadrant for Business Intelligence and Analytics Platforms. As of this month, no companies fell into the “Challengers” quadrant, while 11 were labeled as “Niche Players” and 10 as “Visionaries.” Only three companies, Microsoft, Tableau, and Qlik, made it into the “Leaders” box.
It’s important to note that some vendors, which could potentially be classified as a BI and analytics software developers, did not meet certain criteria for inclusion. Oracle and Splunk are just two of them.
Tomorrow, Perficient will be delivering a webinar titled Interactive Business Intelligence for Big Data in Life Sciences, in which we’ll highlight what a modern BI and analytics solution can do for drug makers, device manufacturers, and clinical research organizations. We look forward to you attending the event.
