Day 2 at Informatica World has been equally as informative and exciting as day 1. The day started with Amit Wahlia (Chief Product Officer) discussing the 6 data disruptions leading to innovations that Informatica is watching – including mobile, social media, big data, IoT, security, and cloud.
A cool example of data-driven disruption was Amazon implementing “predictive shopping”. A process with which Amazon will be able to predict demand and send a product to their customer BEFORE they order through Amazon. This is possible through data science with data from social media, shopping trends, spend analysis, mobile apps, and many more data points. Yet another point brought up in the key note session was the changes in the parameters of data including volume, variety, location, latency, and user driven data.
Informatica discussed their strategy behind changing their product landscape and focusing more on cloud based products. There are 3 product strategies that were discussed:
- Best of breed products – Across the 6 solution focus areas including data integration, cloud management, big data, data quality, master data, and data security
- Intelligent data platform – Connectivity, compute engine, metadata, and operational management layer
- Data solutions – Customer 360, product 360, supplier 360, secure@source, intelligent data lake
