Background:
After upgrading your Exchange 2003 environment to Exchange 2010 SP1, you enter the following command using the Exchange Management Shell on your Exchange 2010 Server:
Get-DistributionGroup
And you receive the following error on several Distribution Groups:
WARNING: The object DistributionListName has been corrupted, and it’s in an inconsistent state. The following validation errors happened: WARNING: Property expression “DistributionListName” isn’t valid…
In addition, when using the Exchange Management Console to review Distribution Lists returning this error, you receive the following:
Resolution:
The Alias name of your Distribution List contains invalid characters. The Alias name needs to be changed to contain no invalid characters. In my case, the Alias names for many of my customer’s Distribution Lists contained spaces, removing all spaces in each Alias name resolved the problem.
