Top 6 Reasons to Attend The Forrester / Perficient Webinar

So Perficient is teaming with Forrester to host a webinar titled, “Forrester & Perficient on SharePoint as a Social Business Platform”  Frankly, I can think of only two good reasons to attend any webinar.  First, the topic has relevance and you think you’ll learn something from it. Second, the people speaking in the webinar are able to engage you rather than bore you to death.  I’ll assume that Social Business represents a topic of interest to everyone given my myopic focus on portal and social these days.  That just leaves the speakers who I can say at least have good viewpoints and are capable of engaging you with relevant viewpoints and new information. (No pressure Rob or Rich…….)
So here’s my top 5 reasons for why it’s a good use of time.

Rob Koplowitz

  1. Rob comes from Forrester.   I like what all the major analysts publish but I have to say that I really like how deep Forrester goes into topics.  After reading their research, I feel like I’ve learned something.
  2. Rob gets cloud.  See his recent Yammer post to show how he gets the difference in a cloud based development and measurement cycle.
  3. Rob spends time and understands Microsoft and where they are headed.  Yes, this is a Microsoft social business webinar so I’m expecting any speaker to be VERY knowledgeable about the topic.

Rich Wood

OK, I know Rich a little more since he works for the same company as me. That makes it easy to think of three reasons.  Here’s my take on Rich.

  1. He’s passionate about portal and social and how to implement them in SharePoint.  That passion translates to his prolific blog posts.
  2. His passion translates to Perficient’s needs.  In other words, he’s not just active on a blog post but on our internal “Perficient Hub” where he participates in various conversations about how to improve our intranet and what’s happening with him and his peers.   All of that conversation occurs in the Hub’s Activity Stream of course.
  3. I could make a dig on a receding hairline but instead I’ll focus on the fact that he spends a fair amount of time presenting to clients on these very topics and I’ve always found Rich engaging the times I’ve heard him speak.  (hearkening back to why I would be willing to take time away from work to attend a webinar.)

So yes, I think the upcoming webinar should providing for an engaging hour.
