Why Are We a Top Workplace?
A significant aspect of the culture in our Detroit office is the team’s dedication to giving back to their community. Just in the past year, this team has been involved in many different organizations and events.
An organization that our Detroit team is heavily involved with is the Michigan Council of Women in Technology (MCWT). As a Platinum-level partner, Perficient supports the organization through yearly donations and event sponsorships that help fund its goals, mission, and values. MCWT is a multi-faceted philanthropic organization dedicated to improving the state of women in technology in Michigan.
For the past three years, Perficient has partnered with the Mark Cuban Foundation to host free AI Bootcamps for underserved students. For the first time, we were able to host a camp in Detroit. The camps ran for 4 weeks this past month and many employees from our Detroit office volunteered to help mentor the students at these camps. Our Perficient colleagues are passionate about making a difference in our global communities by advancing STEM education, so it has been wonderful to expand our efforts by introducing these camps in the Detroit area.
During Hunger Action Month (HAM), the Giving ERG challenged each Perficient office to donate at least 50 pounds of food in support of ending world hunger The Detroit team had overwhelming support this year and donated food to the Clarenceville Food Bank in Livonia which has been a recipient of past food drives. Food drives have always been part of Michigan’s efforts to give back to their community and HAM was a great opportunity to contribute even more.
A Look Inside an Award-Winning Team
When they are not volunteering or giving back to their community, the Detroit team loves to connect with one another and foster relationships with fellow colleagues. 
Just in the past year the team has attended a Detroit Tigers game, hosted a picnic, and a potluck, and they have even enjoyed more unique experiences together like Turkish coffee and learning how to make mozzarella! This group is a tight-knit bunch and is always looking for ways to cultivate team spirit. Joel Stanesa has been the general manager of the Detroit office for 12 years and counting.
