It’s awards season in the tech world and IBM is leading the way in public cloud. In their most recent study of available services, Forrester ranked IBM among the leaders in the public cloud space with specific regard to empowering enterprise developers with the tools they need to build applications.
In their assessment, named “The Forrester Wave: Global Public Cloud Platforms for Enterprise Developers, Q3 2016”, the research firm cited IBM as a “strong performer”, giving the venerable technology giant the highest marks in 34 different categories for its public and private cloud strategy in addition to its infrastructure services, which include Softlayer.
Among the conclusions Forrester drew to give its assessment included:
- Platform configuration options
- Application migration services
- Cognitive analytics services
- Compliance certifications
- Networking support
- Growing partner roster
- IBM’s emphasis on an enterprise-first hybrid cloud approach
IBM was also lauded for its emphasis on catering to a wide variety of developers compared to competitors who often focus on specialization or cost of technology. By focusing on the discrete needs of enterprise organizations, developers can be better empowered to focus on security, development, and compliance which result in more complex and elegant applications.
