The 2011 Connected Health Symposium is only days away. Our team will be in Boston for the October 20-21 event. This is an exciting time for patient engagement. We are witnessing a transformation in the role of the patient within the care model. This event promises to be a great opportunity to share innovative ideas around connected care.
Participants should leverage the Connected Health Symposium to attend many of their peer organization presentations to learn from personal experience. We look forward to visiting the exhibit floor to listen and observe what is being highlighted by the vendors as well as what our peers are saying and asking. As we discuss collaborating with patients using technology, it is important for us to enjoy the educational and collaborative nature of this event and network with colleagues and solution providers so we can see the potential that can be achieved. Here are some of the key trends that we look forward to exploring at this year’s event:
Accountable Care: Many leading healthcare organizations have experienced better clinical outcomes at lower cost when 1) data is integrated in such a way that design of care can travel across an entire patient episode and 2) patients were engaged in the design of their care. With presentations like “Will Accountable Care Organizations Produce Accountable Patients and, If So, How?” we look forward to fully vetting how patient engagement in accountable care.
Mobile Health: Mobile health has been a trending topic for some time as we find ways to engage patients using the means that they prefer to communicate. I’m looking forward to, “Game Mechanics, Gaming Psychology, and New Approaches to Designing Health and Wellness Programs”. Look forward to an update on our popular “healthcare gamification” series as a result.
Collaboration with Patients as Individuals with Health IT: The rapidly shifting role of patients within the care model has resulted in demand for easier access to healthcare professionals. Innovations in social media and collaborative technologies provide healthcare organizations with the ability to disperse information quickly and appeal to individuals who are seeking cost-effective healthcare services. (Check out our white paper on this topic.) There are plenty of opportunities to learn more about this topic at the Connected Health Symposium with events like, “Improving Patient Engagement and Medication Adherence Through Health System Innovation” and “The Age of Compassionate Computing”.
We would love to meet with you at the conference. Leave a comment, catch up with us in person, visit our Connected Health Page, or contact us on Twitter (@Perficient_HC) to discuss what you think the hot topics for collaborative care are this year.
