Content Integration in Oracle WebCenter

I recently blogged about content management in portals. Chris DeBracy, one of the lead architects in our Oracle practice gave me some additional information about how Oracle’s Web Center Suite integrates Oracle UCM (the old Stellent product).

There are all kinds of ways to display UCM content in WebCenter Suite using little or a lot of effort.  There are OOB porlets available.  Content Portlet Suite (CPS) contains a series of JSR-168 portlets that provide functionality to view, contribute and search content that you wish to display via the portal. We have a content presenter task flow, a document library task flow, the OMNI portlet, and Open WCM Markup which allows for WYSIWYG editing of content from the portal.

More details are available here:   http://blogs.oracle.com/fusionecm/2010/04/oracle_ucm_integration_with_we.html

Suffice to say that there is very tight integration between WCS and UCM.  Based upon the user’s context in WCS they have access to the content they need and from their perspective it seems the portal is storing the content.  The content is really being checked in and managed in UCM.
