Sitecore Symposium 2017: The New Sitecore Forms

This session was led by Pieter Brinkman and Hylke Heidstra from Sitecore. They showed some of the new features in the new Sitecore Forms for Sitecore 9.

This session was in a very large room and was standing room only! Lots of people wanted to know more about this new module. Here are my notes from the session:

  • This is not a separate module. It is built into Sitecore 9.
  • There will be a new button on the dashboard
  • Lots of stats about the form
    • Abandon rate
    • Views
    • Time to complete each field
    • Error rate on each field
    • More stats to come in future Sitecore updates
  • Drag and drop form builder
  • Built in form elements
    • Lists
    • Sections
    • Pages
  • Custom form elements
    • Create the UI just like any other template in Sitecore (section, items, standard values)
  • Customization options for display
    • CSS / JS
    • Razor Views
    • Model and Properties
  • Multiple submit actions available
    • Email
    • Database
    • Page redirect
  • Custom submit actions
    • Create a new submit action item
    • Implement a class that inherits from SubmitActionBase
    • Configure the UI for the submit action
    • Use the new submit action in your form
  • Customizable via pipelines and renderers
  • The future of Sitecore 9 Forms
    • Real time design/preview
    • More advanced reporting
    • Conditional forms based on previous form data
    • Performance enhancements
  • What about Web Form For Marketers?
    • Still supported in Sitecore 9
    • Will exist side-by-side with Sitecore 9 Forms
    • There is NO automated migration from WFFM to S9F

I know I’m excited to try this new forms module! I’d love to hear from you about your experience with the new forms module.
