Can AvePoint fill the Meeting Workspace gap in 2013?

I have always felt that SharePoint is loaded with numerous hidden gems, features or functions available out-of-the-box but simply waiting for the right use case to unlock their value.  This is one of the real value adds that working with knowledgeable consultants can bring—the good ones know those hidden gems, match them to a business […]

NewsGator’s Partner of the Year… Again! (And why it matters!)

This just in– Perficient was named NewsGator’s Partner of the Year for 2012.  If that sounds familiar, I suppose it should, because we actually won the same award in its inaugural year of 2011! Beyond that, this honor for our team is more than just an award, it’s a statement… for a number of reasons. […]

An open letter to the NewsGator Collective: Wish I was there!

Dear NewsGator Collective, You and I had a great time together last year, and I really enjoyed the chance to learn so much about social business.  We’re sending a team to you again this week; they’ll spend some time in Denver, Colorado to get all hyped up about social business. Sadly, I have conflicts and […]

How Yammer and Office 365 will make you a better Jedi Knight

Office 365 has officially launched.  Make no mistake, this is a big deal for enterprise social.  Later this month, I’ll be doing a webinar around Microsoft’s direction in that space with Rob Koplowitz of Forrester Research (you can sign up here).  The latest reports published by Mr. Koplowitz and his team have taken a hard […]

SharePoint Social on Your iPad!

The SharePoint 2013 Social Newsfeed is now available in Apple’s App Store. That’s right– you can access the social side of your SharePoint intranet on an iPad in a slick, easy-to-use way.  (Please excuse my low-resolution screen shots– there’s much better examples on the official iTunes page.) From a UI perspective, there is a lot […]

Social Intranets the Microsoft Way

We interrupt our regularly scheduled series on SharePoint Careers to direct you to a series my colleague, Mark Polly, is writing on Social Intranets.  It’s definitely worth checking out, and a higher-level take on a subject we’ve explored in this space many times over– a good companion piece to everything we’ve published (and will continue […]

SharePoint Careers: Three Most Successful Career Paths

Let’s talk about SharePoint Careers!  Last week, we kicked off the new year by suggesting five key tips for a fun and fulfilling career in SharePoint.  This week, I want to start digging into each of those tips separately and sharing a little more information about each one.  After all, what better way to start […]

Kicking off 2013: Five Tips for a Successful SharePoint Career

It’s the fourth of January.   Presents have long since been unwrapped, year’s end revels have come to an end of their own, the “best of” lists have been read and discarded, and with the notable exception of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and this year’s SEC powerhouse du jour, the bowl games have all been […]

The Yeoman’s Guide to SP2013 Internet/Extranet Licensing: Part 2

(This article is the second in a two-part series.  For Part 1, please click here.) If I were a decision maker or purchasing manager in an enterprise IT department, this is how I’d like to view SharePoint CALs (CAL is shorthand for Client Access License in the Redmond Universe): a “solution first” approach that tells […]

The Yeoman’s Guide to SP2013 Internet/Extranet Licensing: Part 1

What was that law about an object at rest?  Well, when my own mind is at rest– that is, when I’m not consumed with doting on my kids, digging up obscure music, or reveling in the resurgence of Notre Dame football– my mind tends to wander to SharePoint.  In the wake of the phenomenal and […]

SPC12 Quick Hit: Yammer and SharePoint at Kroger

I just caught a great session here at SharePoint Conference 2012 where the good folks at Kroger (a large retail grocer in the central/eastern US) laid out what was basically a case study of how deploying Yammer has energized and enabled their workforce. What interested me about this session was the uniqueness of it– prior […]
