As an avid at-home cook and lover of food, the office potluck always brings me great joy. I love it when I can try other colleagues’ favorite things to cook and share mine as well. However, this year office potlucks have gone on hold and so has that connection.
Provisioning Virtually
With everyone working from home, our colleagues in Chicago wanted to provide a way that they could stay connected with each other. What better way to connect than with food and cooking? Many team members had taken up cooking new and existing recipes or perfecting family favorites during the pandemic (hello, flour shortage!). The team decided to create a collective cookbook to showcase their favorite recipes and then Perficient Provisions was born.
“Cooking is very personal and our office usually has a potluck every year. The direction that things are going with COVID, it doesn’t look like that will be possible this year. I think Perficient Provisions will help us stay connected to each other during this time.”
Laura Vicinanza, technical consultant
Once the recipes were compiled, the team created a digital book of the collection and sent it out to the team. The cookbook contains cocktails, salads, main courses, side dishes, and desserts. Many of the recipes contain short snippets of where it came from or a small story of its invention. The team even noted when items were dairy, meat-heavy, or vegan. You can find dishes from all over the world and for every skill level of cook. A few examples include: Massaman Curry, Cheesy Chicken Hash Brown Casserole, Layered Taco Dip, Chocolate Truffle Cookies, and the list goes on. There’s something for everyone!
An Active Company Culture
Our Chicago team continues to be innovative in how they celebrate our company culture, even when we can’t be together.
They are passionate about what they do and are always looking for ways to get involved in activities both inside and outside of the company. Over the past few months, Chicago employees have come together virtually to host the following events:
- Happy Hour/DIY approach to tackling the PPE shortage in Chicago
- Virtual gathering to tackle the slippery slope of declining penguin counts
- Green Team meeting on how to be sustainable during the quarantine
At Perficient, we continually look for ways to champion and challenge our talented workforce with interesting projects for high-profile clients, encourage personal and professional growth through training and mentoring, and celebrate our people-oriented culture and the innovative ways they serve Perficient and the community.
