Every new Perficient colleague that joins our team passes through the hands (and email inbox) of a Talent Acquisition Coordinator. From the moment that colleagues accept an offer, we want them to have the best experience possible and fast-track them to Perficient success.
I hope to show what an asset this role is to candidates and let people know once you join Perficient, we have the people and tools in place to support you at every stage. Keep reading to discover what I do, why I love my job, and how I contribute to Perficient!
What is a Talent Acquisition Coordinator?
A Talent Acquisition Coordinator serves as a personal guide to Perficient’s newest employees once they have signed an offer letter. I am essentially a counselor of Camp Perficient, supporting and guiding new hires. After a candidate has agreed to join our team, I step in to help them prepare for their first day. My role functions as a bridge between the Talent Acquisition team and our Human Resources folks. A few of my responsibilities include:
- Sending an instructional welcome email to the new hire
- Initiating onboarding tasks to the hire
- Collecting first-day details to send to the hire
- And of course, making sure new hires have a positive experience and feel a part of the Perficient team!
The Birth of My Role: Creating Colleague Success
As Perficient saw amazing growth and continues to bring in the best and brightest talent, we knew we needed to grow the resources that serve them, as well. In an effort to support new hires as they navigate onboarding and wait for their start date, the Talent Acquisition Coordinator role was born. (We’re called TACs for short!) The position has grown considerably since its conception, but at its heart, it is about illuminating processes that can be confusing and providing a friendly face for candidates.
My Odyssey to Perficient
I graduated from Truman State University with a BA in English and a focus on writing. Initially, I used this degree, along with my teaching certification, to educate high school students. There were many wonderful things about teaching, but I couldn’t help but feel pulled in another direction. I love that in my current role, I get to guide and support our new hires. In this respect, I’m applying my experience as a teacher to make new employees feel welcomed!
Additionally, I ran a side hustle in which I designed and marketed lesson plans for other teachers. The more I explored the world of design, editing, and marketing, the clearer it became to me that I needed to spread my wings in my career. I quickly fell in love with creating quality content, defining my own brand, and sharing resources. Gaining that experience has helped guide me in the ways I contribute to Perficient, from writing blog posts to designing flyers for our social events!
What I Love About My Role at Perficient
The Talent Acquisition Coordinators personalize onboarding. It can be overwhelming for new hires to have several tasks to complete before they even step foot in an office. I serve as a point of contact to make sure they move through the process confidently. A friendly face can make a big difference.
The most rewarding part of my job is when I get to meet one of my hires in person or talk to them over the phone. I typically get to know our St. Louis colleagues because we often help complete their I-9s. It’s so neat to put a face and personality to a name! I’ve been in contact with these people for weeks, so it is a great way to end (or perhaps continue) our journey together. I’ve made great friends with colleagues this way.
My Life Outside of Perficient
When I’m not onboarding Perficient employees, you can find me practicing guitar, rock-climbing, hiking, or playing board games with friends. I also enjoy a good Broadway musical. I love to learn, and I’m always teaching myself something new.
