“At Perficient Latin America you’re allowed to have new ideas, you’re encouraged to have them. You’re allowed to be a human being. It’s a place where we’re all aware that you can be going through your own personal situation and it’s okay to go deal with it, where you’re trusted with your own time and your own schedule.”
by Sacilnallely Perez, Operations Analyst at Perficient Latin America
Our community is made of incredibly talented engineers, as well as highly skilled professionals from all disciplines. We come together through our commitment to our work, our dedication to our personal and professional growth and our desire to see our societies impacted positively. We sat down with Sacilnallely Perez, or just “Sacil”, from our Mexico City office, to talk about Perficient Latin America’s overall philosophy of continuous learning, betterment and finding opportunities to grow as a person and as a professional.
How long have you been at Perficient Latin America?
I’ve been at Perficient Latin America for almost ten years now.
What do you like the most about working at Perficient Latin America?
I like that they give you the opportunity to keep growing, to keep moving up. Here you can grow as much as you want. You get to manage your time and your work rhythm, so everyone is where they want to be and gets to define where they want to go. Which is great because not every company is open to giving you this flexibility, perhaps in Latin America, but definitely not in Mexico. It’s not common to see a company with its doors open to let you decide what you want to do, how you want to achieve it and to suggest a course of action. Perficient Latin America definitely has that openness that other companies lack.
What are your areas of expertise?
I’d like to think that my area of expertise is still transversal support to my team members; if not necessarily expert in one area, a support in various administrative matters (legal, financial, accounting and others.)
What are the qualities you value in your team members?
Something I value from teammates and people in general, and this is something I’ve learned from Perficient Latin America, is honesty, commitment to truth, and being faithful to one’s word—if you say you’re going to do something, doing everything possible to keep your word. Being a good human being is essential; I think Jorge (Aramburo) has always instilled in us the principle of being good people. Likewise, responsibility, the desire to keep moving forward; we all have flaws or things to work on but wanting to do things right is what’s most valuable in people, for me at least.
“We have great guides—like Jorge, Lina and Ana—that share their philosophy and the lessons they’ve learned throughout their lives freely. And I think that’s very valuable.”

What would you say to someone that’s considering working at Perficient Latin America?
I think I’d divide my message into two parts. One part for people with little professional experience; to them I’d say if you want to grow personally and professionally, Perficient Latin America is the best option for you. And for people that already have a good amount of professional experience, that are maybe tired of the same old sales pitch—where companies promise they’re different and end up just being more of the same—, I’d say Perficient Latin America is truly different. At Perficient Latin America you’re allowed to have new ideas, you’re encouraged to have them. You’re allowed to be a human being. It’s a place where we’re all aware that you can be going through your own personal situation and it’s okay to go deal with it, where you’re trusted with your own time and your own schedule; there are a great number of benefits that I don’t think most companies in Mexico have. I’d tell them to give themselves the chance to participate and get to know Perficient Latin America.
What’s your favorite eating spot near the office?
Some of my favorites, I’d have to say, are the meat cuts in El Cambalache, but you should definitely try the Romanoff strawberries—they are a delicacy! I think, just for the strawberries, El Cambalache would be my favorite spot.
Anything else you’d like to add?
I’d like to reiterate my previous message: Perficient Latin America is a place for continuous learning, both professionally and personally. We have great guides—like Jorge, Lina, and Ana—that share their philosophy and the lessons they’ve learned throughout their lives freely. And I think that’s very valuable. Professionally, as well, there are so many talented, technically-skilled people who are experts in their areas that are open to sharing their knowledge, and it’s a great opportunity to take advantage of these resources. This allows you to grow as much as you want; the tools and the resources are there available to you, it’s just a matter of being open to admitting there’re still things you can learn, and going for it.
