Forrester’s recent report, “Now Tech: Microservices Strategy and Delivery Service Providers: Q1, 2018,” lists Perficient among 17 top providers. The report advises IT leaders and application development and delivery professionals on choosing a partner for microservices adoption.

When evaluating potential partners, Forrester lists providers “with a dedicated microservices practice” because they offer a “more focused base for developing specialized resources.”
Additionally, Forrester states that the potential rewards of microservices are compelling, but the risks are high. Make sure your business builds a competency for microservices. When considering service providers, you should:
- Ensure service provider alignment. Microservices specialties differ across providers, so make sure potential vendors have deep experience with your platform(s). If you haven’t selected a platform, initiate discussions about the vendor’s processes, criteria, and platform recommendations.
- Build skills transfer into your services agreement. Going too fast is often a risk when adopting microservices. Work with your service provider to include skills transfer so you can avoid taking your organization beyond its abilities.
- Include APIs with your microservice architecture. Most service providers that help with microservices can also help with API strategy. Consider evaluating vendors with the expertise to help with both.
