Perficient’s Minneapolis office celebrated its annual picnic at Brookview Park in mid-July. Along with our annual holiday party, the picnic is an opportunity for colleagues to meet each other’s families, play lawn games, and spend an afternoon filled with laughter and good conversations.
Children and adults alike took part in a variety of games, including lawn darts, Spikeball, horseshoes, and softball.
Many of our coworkers also brought their furry friends to the picnic; they definitely stole the show, and enjoyed being center of attention.
Team-building activities such as these can go a long way in building office camaraderie. Noted in a Huffington Post article:
The strength of games as motivators lies in their ability to tap into our social natures and harness powerful psychological factors — such as the desire to share, to collaborate, to compete, and to create — to a playful end.
Perficient’s commitment to cultivating a culture of friendship and support is ultimately a strong driver of employee engagement. These efforts have been recognized by the StarTribune for the second consecutive year, as Perficent’s Minneapolis office was ranked as one of Minnesota’s Top Workplaces.
So many of our daily tasks in consulting cross the boundaries of a specific job description. Hosting events such as the annual picnic helps colleagues create a work environment rich with enthusiasm and good vibes, and that helps nurture long-term client relationships.
We are now looking forward to the next event on our office agenda: the annual Paint-a-thon, where colleagues help restore home exteriors for low-income seniors and people with special needs in the Twin Cities-metro area.
