PriyalPatelWe continue our HIMSS16 Perspective series with an interview featuring Priyal Patel, MHA, Sr. Solutions Architect and Consultant, Perficient. Priyal is a detail-oriented and results-driven healthcare subject matter expert and business consultant. She has strong leadership and interpersonal skills and has led and collaborated with multi-disciplinary project teams from some of the most prominent healthcare organizations to help implement and operationalize strategic and innovative solutions that provide efficient and effective performance and quality outcomes.

KATE: What are you looking forward to most?
PRIYAL
: There are so many things, but I have to say I always look forward to connecting with colleagues and industry friends I have made from previous HIMSS conferences and I really enjoy the constant collaboration and networking that occurs the entire week. I want to hear about all the success stories that occurred as a result of knowledge obtained from last year’s HIMSS conference and also look forward to learning about all the new, innovative ways healthcare organizations are advancing in their use of technology and analytics to continue to make strides in optimizing operations and care delivery and I am equally looking forward to sharing Perficient’s expertise and experiences in this space. I mean, after all the best part of the HIMSS Conference is the endless back and forth knowledge sharing and lessons learned that goes on to help us all achieve the same goal – using people, process and technology to achieve that so desired triple aim of healthcare. Oh, and of course, I am looking forward to Vegas and winning millions at one of the tables!

KATE: What trends/topics do you anticipate will be a focus at HIMSS?
PRIYAL: I think population health will be equally hot this year as it was last year, but I am putting my money on the fact that value-based care will be the main trend this year. I am also going to say data integration and analytic topics will still be going strong as in years past. Without the capability to bring all the necessary data together and meaningfully use the data via analytics, organizations will find it very difficult to drive any population health initiative or shift behavior towards the adoption of value-based care.

KATE: If you could give one piece of advice to a first-time HIMSS attendee what would it be?
PRIYAL
: Network! With nearly 40,000 attendees, the brain power under one roof is unbelievable and makes this a great place to meet people within the industry and obtain and share endless amounts of knowledge…and make some new friends along the way. There are so many interactive product demonstrations and knowledge centers that really give attendees a sense of all the innovative solutions that are available, so I would also recommend taking time to walk the exhibit floor. For first-time attendees, the sheer magnitude of the exhibit floor can seem extremely overwhelming, but if you plan your attack using some of the navigation tools that are out there this should help ease some of the anxiety and allow you to not only learn but at times enjoy (happy hour anyone?) the interactions and activities that happen on the exhibit floor. And the most important of all… drink plenty of water, wear comfy shoes and have fun!! See you at HIMSS!

Stop by the Perficient booth #2871 to meet Priyal – she will be there all week!
