Conversation Prism Highlights Our Marketing Challenge

Online marketing is a challenge.  When you think about having a conversation with your customer or potential customer, where you communicate can have a dramatic impact on whether your message gets through. Many people can identify Facebook and Twitter as two common social media outlets.

The Conversation Prism by Brian Solis and JESS3, shown here, does a good job of showing the vastness of our internet and the many, many ways to have a conversation.  I’m sure the diagram doesn’t show every available system, but it is quite impressive for all the ones included.

You can get a printed version of the Conversation Prism at conversationprism.com.  The author says you can use the prism in the following ways, and I agree with all of them.

  • Show your executive team that social media is not a fad and that it’s bigger than Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, and Pinterest
  • Share with your team to motivate them on new ways to think about social media
  • Celebrate that you’re on the map!
  • Study the landscape as you plan your next social media strategy
  • Show the world that you appreciate art
  • Give as gifts to everyone you know who loves social media or who needs to learn to love it
