Yep, you read that right. Development on SharePoint 2013 (as part of the larger Office 2013 family of products) is DONE and it’s being released to the market very, very soon.
Read the whole story on Kirk Koenigsbauer’s blog. The key note here is for enterprise customers:
“Volume Licensing customers with Software Assurance will be able to download the Office 2013 applications as well as other Office products including SharePoint 2013, Lync 2013 and Exchange 2013 through the Volume Licensing Service Center by mid-November. These products will be available on the Volume Licensing price list on December 1.”
What does this mean? In plain English, if you have an Enterprise Agreement with Microsoft (including Software Assurance), you’ll be able to download the final, production-ready bits for SharePoint 2013 in about a month. (Everyone else will have to wait just a bit longer.)
This is just in time for SharePoint Conference, coincidentally.
How cool is that? I promise to celebrate at SPC 2012 by doing a karaoke cover of any Duran Duran songs available. Taking requests now….
