Strange Errors in SharePoint 2007 Server

We were seeing some strange event log errors in our MOSS 2007 installation. This install was a SharePoint 2003 install that was upgraded to MOSS 2007 Beta 2 and then to MOSS 2007 RTM code. I don’t think this had anything to do with the problem because I have heard that it was happening on another server that was a fresh MOSS 2007 RTM install. I searched the internet high and low for solutions to my problem but couldn’t find any.

The error log entries we were seeing both had an Event ID of 6482 but came in two flavors (Microsoft.Office.Excel.Server.ExcelServerSharedWebServiceInstance and Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.SearchAdminSharedWebServiceInstance). For each flavor, they were coming two minutes apart. Here is the text of the events:

A great Microsoft support engineer (thanks Sree!) pointed me to a KB article that we thought might address the last two errors:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/923028/en-us

We were not sure if the KB article would fix all of the errors we were seeing because it seemed to be specific to the two errors that were not coming with as much frequency but this morning when I checked our server, all of the error messages had disappeared. It looks like the problem is solved!
