Perficient’s office in suburban Livonia, Mich., houses 80 consultants and about a dozen interns who work with high-profile clients in industries such as automotive, healthcare, manufacturing, and financial services.
Some of the projects include content management, business integration, custom application development, business intelligence, portals, business process management, and mobility. These engagements can extend across the office or across the region to include digital commerce colleagues in Ann Arbor, Mich., about 25 miles away.
Altogether, about 200 Perficient colleagues live and work in the Great Lakes State.
Between big projects, Detroit colleagues participate in team activities such as picnics, potlucks, and trips to Detroit Tigers baseball games. They have annual chili cook-offs and golf tournaments and a Halloween costume contest. They also perform charity work in the community.
Monthly, Detroit colleagues choose a nearby watering hole for a “Perficient Power Hour” for a change of conversation and scenery. Inside the office, however, visitors will find the atmosphere to be just as refreshing.
“We have a young, dynamic workforce and an open floor plan that encourages significant collaboration,” said Joel Stanesa, General Manager. “Most of the team actually works in the office instead of at the client sites, so the office is full most days and has a vibrancy and life to it.”
A considerable amount of that vibrancy can be found in the afternoons around the foosball or ping pong tables. “They get high traffic during lunchtime,” Stanesa said. “We have a few teams that have formed in-house, and they compete against each other regularly.”
But the engine of Detroit’s dynamism is its diverse staff, which hails from eight countries and fosters numerous interests. “We have a few marathon runners and bikers in the office,” Stanesa said. “Also, we have a martial arts trainer, artists, singers, a DJ, some really great cooks, and we have talented dancers who put on a really nice performance at our office holiday party this year.”
In 2016, our Detroit team will continue to grow, and they plan to have fun the whole time. “I always get a boost of energy when I come into the office, with all the activity,” Stanesa said. “There’s never a dull moment, that’s for sure.”
