We bring an end-to-end digital approach through our comprehensive portfolio of capabilities, solutions, and strategic positions.

Our success as a global digital consultancy is because of our talented colleagues, especially those who dedicate their time to fostering meaningful connections with our clients.

We recently had the opportunity to sit down with Angela Engel, who lives in Indianapolis supporting Perficient’s sales for the Ohio business unit. Keep reading to discover how her sales expertise and ability to build strong relationships is making a difference for some of Perficient’s largest accounts. Angela also shares her international travel experience and what she is passionate about outside of work.

What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life.

I’m in sales and I work within the Ohio business unit managing one of our largest global clients. I was brought onto this account to expand our portfolio outside of our primary division. I’m responsible for managing Perficient’s solutions and strategic positions across our global capabilities that we deliver to this client.

My favorite part of what I do is the people that I work with. I am surrounded by individuals who are innovating in the technology space. Every day is different for me, whether it’s talking about data solutions, generative AI, or a Salesforce project. My work spans across different solutions, and I connect our Perficient colleagues to our clients to get the conversation started. I manage the process from end-to-end with an entire team around me through relationship building, contract negotiation, closing the contract, and handing it off to our delivery teams.

Within the last couple of years, we have grown our presence in Latin America, and we’re engaged on a weekly basis with the leadership team to receive different resources for our projects. We also do the same in India. I went to Nagpur for the first time last year to meet our teams.

Building camaraderie is one of the best parts of my job. I’m open-minded and enjoy hearing others bring their thoughts to the table. At Perficient, the tech solutions are so innovative and it’s so rewarding being part of it.

Whether big or small, how do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities, or teams?

I make a difference by being me, knowing who I am, and understanding the knowledge that I bring to the table. Having a sense of self and integrity is important in my role. Taking these values into conversations can have a large impact, especially in sales. I strive to be relatable and hope that I can help open doors for our clients. I take both my reputation and Perficient’s reputation very seriously, and I think that’s the difference I make.

Meet Angela’s two sons, who are very close!

What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?

Having my two little boys is what I’m most proud of. I’ve always wanted to have a family, so having my boys met that mark. They are close in age at 10 and 12-years-old. Seeing their relationship grow and how they are best buddies has been so great.

My 12-year-old is learning to code on a robotics team. It’s amazing that we are teaching technology, like coding and building devices, early in kids’ lives.

Professionally, when I was starting out in sales, I surrounded myself with a group of women in Indianapolis called Women & Hi Tech. Over the years when I was calling on clients in Indianapolis, I continued to network within the area and grow relationships with the group. Their experience motivated me to join the board. I have maintained those relationships over time. Getting involved and promoting the accomplishments of women I come across in my work is very rewarding.

What advice would you give to colleagues who are starting their career with Perficient?

People say that you need to be technical, hone into one specific platform, and grow your career from there. However, I’m more of a relationship person. My advice would be to maintain curiosity and be yourself. I have learned that people open up when you are real and transparent. Building relationships helps to bring new ideas to the table. I have grown through nurturing relationships and bringing different capabilities to the team.

At Perficient, we have so many solutions and as we continue to grow over these next few years, barriers will be broken down and everyone can be involved in the tech space.

How have you developed your career at Perficient?

I went to college to be a dentist and was not thinking about technology or sales at the time. Later, I did end up going into the technology business. I started at a technology entrepreneur company, but after 10 years, I wanted to work with global capabilities. Perficient was able to marry those two worlds together for me: we’re very entrepreneurial but also global and competing with large consulting firms. I have grown my career based on wanting to explore more of what the technology landscape can provide.

Why did you choose Perficient?

When I was recruited, I knew from the first moment that I wanted to work with this team. As I’ve grown my career, I have realized that it’s more important to surround yourself with people that you want to spend time with day-to-day.

Could you share more about your experience traveling internationally with Perficient?

Angela exploring the scenery in Paris, France.

I love to travel and have traveled to many places personally. Some of my favorite places are Paris, London, and Germany. I also travel almost weekly for work and recently had the opportunity to go to India. Perficient’s new global expansion into Europe will provide more opportunities too. I’m looking forward to traveling internationally with Perficient and continuing our global reach.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I love watching my boys compete in sports! I’m their biggest cheerleader and love watching them play. Outside of soccer, they also play basketball, baseball, and flag football. As they get older, I hope that they stay involved in sports.

I think there’s a huge element around activities like sports that builds your sense of self and teamwork abilities. I was involved in sports as well – gymnastics, cheerleading, basketball, and volleyball. In high school, I did more cheerleading, but I played the gamut of sports growing up.
