2022 was an extraordinary year for the Optimizely team at Perficient. The knowledge and devotion of our colleagues led to Perficient being named as Optimizely’s 2022 Solution Partner of the Year. This award recognizes our team’s extensive Optimizely expertise, and their dedication and commitment to delivering innovative and impactful solutions to the world’s biggest brands.
Below is an in-depth look into Jon Bisbing’s role as a portfolio specialist for the Sitecore and Optimizely business unit. He discusses the importance of teamwork, his family, and his motivations and hobbies.
What is your role? Describe a typical day.
I am a portfolio specialist in our Sitecore and Optimizely business unit. My days mostly consist of aligning with other partner reps at both Sitecore and Optimizely to identify new opportunities. I go through account planning exercises, trying to find net new targets and work to grow my existing customer base. I continue to align with partners to make sure we are delivering and identifying future opportunities within these accounts. There’s a lot of business development planning and aligning with people like Kim Marcoux from an LDR perspective and other ADs within the walls of Perficient to identify other opportunities. Continuing to hunt new logos and farm the existing clients I have is an important part of my day. Some days may include RFP responses, writing SOWs, and working with other business units to refine estimates going through deal reviews. A large part of my day is working to progress and close my existing deals while finding new opportunities. It is a balance for sure!
What has your experience at Perficient taught you?
My experience at Perficient has taught me to tap into the resources that we have. We have subject matter experts at our disposal who can help us identify and work the existing opportunities we have. All of this has really taught me the importance of teamwork and collaboration. It’s important to educate and tee up these resources to ensure we tap into them and that we’re comfortable and ready for the next steps with our clients. It’s a reminder of the importance of continued collaboration and teamwork because this all leads to greater success.
What motivates you in your daily work?
I don’t say this to sound cheesy but especially in a sales role, I think there’s something to be said for contributing to the bottom line of the company. A huge part of that contribution and success is the success of our clients. A big motivating factor for me is ensuring client success and ensuring the internal success of the project team as a whole. Definitely, a big motivator for me is guaranteeing both the client and Perficient’s resources are successful in these pursuits and projects.
What are you passionate about outside of work?
My passions and hobbies are all over the place between work and family life. I have a seven-year-old son and a five-year-old daughter. My family keeps busy with extracurricular activities like sports whether its flag football, baseball, dance, or soccer. We’re starting to get into a lot of weekend sports activities so that takes up a lot of my time. My kids keep me on my toes for sure.
Outside of spending time with my family, it is all things New England sports. I am a diehard Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics fan.
I also love live music. I’ve probably been to 200 concerts in my life at this point. I’ve seen everybody from Dave Matthews, Roger Waters, Counting Crows, John Mayer, Coldplay, and Pearl Jam. That is a big part of my entertainment. With concerts, I collect concert lithographs. These are limited edition prints that bands will put out for the show. It’s a cool collectible and it’s something different. I’ll collect these at shows and then I frame them which looks great.
I love to golf when I can and spend a lot of time skiing during the winter. I will go crazy if I sit around my house all weekend!
Why are you #ProudlyPerficient?
Several things stuck out to me when I first started but day one, I truly felt like I was part of the family here. For a 7,000+ person, publicly traded organization that is hard to do but I felt like I was part of the team from the second I came on board. There are many aspects I appreciate about Perficient and our engagement in the community is one of those. There are a lot of fundraising endeavors we take part in and the importance we place on diversity are things that stand out to me.
A big part of #ProudlyPerficient is teamwork and collaboration. Perficient is widespread but we are very much one team. We’re all marching in the same direction and we all have the same goal of trying to promote success here. The teamwork and collaboration culture is huge and something I appreciate.
What is something on your bucket list?
I really want to bring my family to Fiji at some point. That is a bucket list destination for sure.
Is there anything you’re looking forward to in 2023?
I’m excited for the opportunities that lie ahead, especially in the digital space. We are starting to see increased opportunities pop up on Optimizely coming off the heels of our Partner of the Year award at Opticon. I’m excited to see where their platform is heading in the next year and how we can double down on some of our recent successes to find new opportunities.
