Perficient Latin America Team Spotlight: Ginna Largo

Perficient Latin America Team Spotlight Ginna Largo

Successful nearshore outsourcing teams are not made of talented professionals, but of individuals that are constantly looking for ways to improve themselves. They’re highly invested in their teammates and work to develop skills outside their roles.

“In the market, you’ll find roles with very specific responsibilities and you can’t perform other tasks or move forward with new ideas because it’s under another role. But here, I’ve had the opportunity to work on many things, even if they haven’t been directly related to my role.”

It’s true that every software outsourcing team needs certain types of players, but at Perficient Latin America we don’t like to restrict our employees’ potential. Instead, we give our team members the tools and opportunities they need to grow according to their own design, following their passions and carving out defining characteristics for themselves along the way. Perficient Latin America team members have the opportunity to explore different topics of interest, even if they fall outside their designated role. For example, they can propose, and potentially develop, their own ideas through Perficient Latin America’s robust innovation program.

Most recently, Ginna Largo, one of Perficient Latin America’s Business Analysts, talks about her time at Perficient Latin America, how it’s helped her grow personally and professionally, and how Perficient Latin America spurs innovation by keeping an open mind to new ideas.

How long have you been working at Perficient Latin America software outsourcing and what is your role here?

I have been working at Perficient Latin America for year, as a Business Analyst. I do a lot of the product ownership for a project.

How have you changed or grown in your role since you’ve joined Perficient Latin America?

In the offshore software development market, you’ll find roles with very specific responsibilities and you can’t perform other tasks or move forward with new ideas because it’s under another role. But here, I’ve had the opportunity to work on many things, even if they haven’t been directly related to my role. I’ve learned a lot, from things relating to project management to team building and other soft skills that help you drive change, achieve goals, encourage people, and so on. I guess that I have grown in that sense, both in my role and my personal life.

What development programs or training are available to employees?

I have attended several training sessions, including feedback, retrospectives, emotional intelligence, and teamwork. Some of them have been online workshops or virtual courses, and other lessons have come from different places, like a speech made by Lina Jaramillo (PSL’s COO) or a regularly scheduled lunch and learn.

“Perficient Latin America has always believed that if a person has or knows a new path, a new tool, or a new way to do things, it’s worth exploring that possibility. And, that’s the most important step for Perficient Latin America to be an innovative company.”

What do you think makes Perficient Latin America innovative?

I guess it’s the fact that Perficient Latin America gives itself the opportunity to hear all ideas, regardless of where they come from. Perficient Latin America has always believed that if a person has or knows a new path, a new tool or a new way to do things, it’s worth exploring that possibility. And, that’s the most important step for Perficient Latin America to be an innovative company. After that, an idea will go into an investigation phase, and then a series of tests to try out those tools or ideas, and finally, we decide if it’s a suitable alternative and implement it in our projects. Or maybe start a plan to implement it in the future. The exploration and innovation process as a whole is one of the most valuable things at Perficient Latin America.

Do you have a favorite event that Perficient Latin America puts on each year?

Well, I love all the social events! I like to participate in all the festivities. As for a favorite, I guess it’d be bowling, maybe. It was my favorite last year. But I also love Halloween and Christmas.
