7 Things To Love About the Cloud

Valentine’s Day, despite its retail foundations, is a great day to reflect on what we are grateful for and the things we love. Even though not all of us will be giving or receiving chocolates and roses, there are still many other things to love, including cloud computing.

Let us count the ways:

  1. Cloud is always there: Like the ones we want in our lives, cloud solutions are around 24/7. With many technologies offering guaranteed uptime in their service level agreements, developing, collaborating, and storing data can be done at any hour.
  2. Cloud provides cost flexibility: In comparison to on-premises technologies, cloud doesn’t weigh down the enterprise, transitioning costs to operations. This means organizations can spend more time innovating and less time evaluating solutions on a regular basis.
  3. Cloud brings us closer: In the past, team members would collaborate on projects over email, leading to full inboxes and clutter. With cloud collaboration solutions and portals, team members can instead work on the go and get more done.
  4. There’s more than one: Among the many flexibilities for organizations these days is the multi-cloud strategy. Multi-cloud implementations mean that organizations have multiple cloud services running in one architecture, increasing flexibility and innovation possibilities.
  5. There are also multiple paths: While commentators in the industry express a complete cloud overhaul, organizations actually have more flexibility. One of these is the hybrid cloud, a combination of on-premises and public cloud adoption. Even if your organization is sheepish on cloud benefits, this is a great way to dip your toes in.
  6. Location Agnostic: As cloud brings us closer, it also provides us the flexibility to work and play from anywhere, bringing to light examples such as increases in remote workforces.
  7. Evolution in Development: Similarly, the rise of the cloud has also impacted how cloud and other innovations are created with the adoption of DevOps. As DevOps increases in scale, some organizations are adopting cloud-native PaaS platforms to accelerate development and go-to-market possibilities.
