IBM InfoSphere Data Architect Model Change Report Generation

IDA Model Change Report is helpful when analyzing the differences between industry models and customized content. It can give attribute, entity, relationship level different between two models. You can find change reports at folder “{install folder}\IBM\Industry Models\IBM Unified Data Model for Healthcare\v9.1.0.0\Data_Models \Change Reports” after install Industry Models.

You will see six BIRT reports in this folder to compare two model.

Detailed reports:

  • Logical Data Model Changes – Attributes.rptdesign
  • Logical Data Model Changes – Entities.rptdesign
  • Logical Data Model Changes – Relationships.rptdesign

Summary reports:

  • Summary of Logical Data Model Changes – Entities.rptdesign
  • Summary of Logical Data Model Changes – Attributes.rptdesign
  • Summary of Logical Data Model Changes – Relationships.rptdesign

We need to know how to use those reports. Here are the steps.

  3. Run report

Import Report to IDA

New report project should be created before import. We can switch IDA workspace perspective to Report Design. Then we can copy reports file into report project.

Change Data Source

We can double click to open the report, then see the data source section. We need to point to a data source to the model you want to compare with. IBM provides a common report to change data source (Change Reports Data Sources.rptlibrary). Others reports can reference to data source configured in this report. Or you can directly update data source in the reports you want to run.

Run Report

You can click the browser in the tool bar to run the report. The report can give attribute change details e.g. column name modification. And it can be exported to pdf, xls, doc ect.
