The year was 2000. With the turn of the new Millennium came new hope for business and technology, boosted by new innovations in online commerce and web development. Though smartphones and social networks were four years away, many felt like the world was on the cusp of even more change than the previous 20 years. In my own little world, I had just started sixth grade and had saved an assignment for my English class to a floppy disk.
Organizations staying technologically relevant in those days stood out by building a website, with many lacking the mobile responsiveness and social integration seen of today. Just being online at the time was enough for most consumers who wanted to look up customer service numbers, perform product research, or stay updated for company changes.
Oh, how times have changed.
The Modern Technology Adventure
The world has truly evolved since those seemingly simple days. Business is now conducted through omnichannel strategies and communications are possible through mobile applications, social media, the web, customer service numbers, emails, and text message. With the number of available mediums, it’s enough to force even the savviest communications professional to their knees.
Supporting this modern infrastructure is cloud technology, an innovation that has allowed organizations to become more flexible, agile, and aggressive in staying competitive and relevant in the market. With the prevalence of cloud technologies, research firm IDC still predicts that one-third of top 20 companies in each industry will be disrupted over the next 3 years.
We are at the center of enabling this disruptive change, working with global companies to help them realize their cloud vision. We also realize that transitioning into the cloud is a challenge, requiring new technology adoption, and a cultural shift and offer value-added consulting through programs such as the Innovation Lab.
Creating Change Through the Cloud
If you’re a technology leader who has thought about the potential of the cloud for your organization, you may sometimes wonder how others have adopted cloud for business success. One of the beauties of cloud computing is its potential to transform the entire organization, from helping technology teams accelerate innovation to providing individual contributors a chance to collaborate and communicate more effectively.
If these reflections describe you, join us tomorrow for our webinar with IBM, titled Is Cloud The Driving Force Behind Digital Disruption? Moderated by IBM, the webinar will also include industry analysts and Perficient’s own Vishal Rajpal, General Manager for Smarter Process, Connectivity, Cloud, and DevOps solutions. We’ll not only explore the benefits of the cloud, but also discuss practical applications that influence business change.
