Many new employees always ask such questions ‘What is SQA?’, ‘What SQA do in the project?’. To answer these questions I will introduce the SQA role in this post.
There is one process area in CMMI model which is PPQA (Process and Product Quality Assurance). It has several objectives,
- Objectively Evaluate Processes and Work Products
Adherence of the performed process and associated work products and services to applicable process descriptions, standards, and procedures is objectively evaluated.
- Provide Objective Insight
Noncompliance issues are objectively tracked and communicated, and resolution is ensured.
The activities of SQA role most relate to those objectives above.
In Perficient, the SQA Major Responsibility includes,
- Work with project team to tailor/approve the project processes.
- Conduct group audit with project team and PMO involved reviewing the status of the project to ensure projects follow and benefit from the PDM.
- Conduct organizational audit include Training, IT, SEPG, SQA group.
- Monitoring the schedule and quality of the project to provide visibility to management and customer.
- Support on metrics collecting and analysis to projects to enhance visibility and proactively manage risks and issues.
- Cooperate project team to resolve issues and risks.
- Provide process training to project team members.
- Collect and share best practices among project teams.
- Collecting feedback of the processes from project teams and get back to the SEPG for consideration.
