Some large software firms are buying up social marketing companies pretty quickly. Lately, the buy-up announcements are coming at faster than one announcement per week. Oracle bought Vitrue a couple weeks ago. Salesforce bought Buddy Media. Oracle just bought Collective Intellect as well. One thing to note, much of this is a combination of big data with the front end to actually understand that data. So it’s also a good time to be a big data company………
Anyway, here’s the article in CRN about the Oracle Collective Intellect acquisition
Oracle said it expects to close the acquisition sometime in the second half of this year. It did not disclose the terms of the deal.
Collective Intellect, founded in 2005 and based in Boulder, Colo., develops applications that help businesses monitor, analyze and respond in real time to consumers’ conversations on social media networks. That helps businesses leverage marketing campaigns and sales leads more efficiently, allowing them to quickly respond to customer service issues, Oracle said.
