Surprising Science of Motivation- post on Spark

I’ve been thinking a fair amount on motivation of knowledge workers in the ad hoc task driven world we live in today and ran across a TEDTalks video by Daniel Pink.  Great video with surprising results. The video was good enough for me to repost and to comment on what that means on the Spark blog.

“As long at the task involved mechanical skill, bonuses worked as they would be expected: the higher the pay, the better the performance.  But once the task called for ‘even rudimentary cognitive skill’ a larger reward led to poorer performance”
