IBM Lotus Releases Quickr 8.2

So John and I try to keep track of the larger world in portal and collaboration.   The world is not sitting still with changes both major and minor coming up.  Lotus has announced their latest version of their team space product, Quickr version 8.2.  It comes with a number of enhancements:

  • Lotus Connections Files and Wikis for Lotus Quickr product entitlements.
  • Lotus Quickr services for WebSphere® Portal that supports Oracle 10.2 as an alternative database.
  • Lotus Quickr services for WebSphere Portal that supports AIX® V5.3.
  • National language support for all languages supported on previous versions of Lotus Quickr.
  • Upgrade capability from Lotus Quickplace 6.5.1 or 7.0 directly to Lotus Quickr 8.2 without requiring intermediate steps.
  • Many end-user oriented enhancements
  • Performance improvements
  • Simplified administration
  • Enhancements to the Quickr Connectors for both Domino and J2EE.

Everything is important to the people requesting them although I’m most excited about the continuing enhancement of Quickr Connectors.  Team Space products these days cannot live in their little box if they want to be part of a true collaboration strategy and it looks like IBM is getting that.

Thoughts on “IBM Lotus Releases Quickr 8.2”

  1. Yes, in the IBM ECM Practice we are doing an implementation for a PRFT client of the latest Lotus Quickr v8 application, along with IBM FileNet integration using the ‘FileNet Services for Lotus Quickr’ and the Lotus Quickr Connectors. So far things are going smoothly. Contact me if you’d like to know more.
