SharePoint Search on fully anonymous sites

The lead up to this is that since MOSS and WSS are now being used to front large and robust internet facing presences, it sometimes comes to bear that default settings make make the site not work for anonymous users. A case in point is the finding that once you have indexing working and the site seems to be working, have a look as an anonymous user and try to search for content within an ASPX page. What you’ll likely find is that if the search term exists within the URL the page will be returned, but if it is within the text of the ASPX page it will not be returned.
To fix this, on each site, or the top level site, there is a setting that must be changed. The setting is within Site Administration, it is called Search Visibility. The default setting has that ASXP content will not be indexed if "Fine grained permissions are set" on any page within the site heirarchy. Changing this setting to "Always Index ASPX content" will fix this and a full crawl will allow the anonymous user to return resuts from places where the term is in the content not just the URL.
