Molson Coors, a global brewery that has been in operation since 1786, is one of the oldest and most prominent beer companies in the world, with a presence in over 25 countries. The brand is famous for popular beer labels such as Miller Lite, Coors Lite, Blue Moon LightSky, Vizzy, and Carling, among others. 

Molson Coors Creates 5 International Sites with Acquia 

Recently, Molson Coors faced a significant challenge as it needed to create five international sites for its brand. The company’s previous platform architecture made it tough and time-consuming for developers and website administrators to perform updates or enhancements on the website. Additionally, globalizing and localizing the content proved to be a burdensome task with the old platform architecture. 

As Molson Coors caters to a global audience, these challenges posed a significant risk of attracting users from around the world, which is crucial for the company’s success. To address these challenges, Molson Coors partnered with Perficient to implement Acquia for its sites’ architecture. 

Creating an Intuitive Digital Experience for Molson Coors

Molson Coors’ goal was to build a true digital experience platform (DXP) that provides an intuitive user experience for the end-users and needed a platform that made it easy for its site developers to do this. To achieve this, the focus was on three key areas – Acquia Cloud, Drupal Layout Builder, and website performance. 

Perficient kicked off the project with a global discovery phase to understand the business and pain points of content authors. A roadmap was then laid out to optimize the Drupal platform on top of the Acquia Cloud Platform and include multisite architecture and multiple themes to provide flexibility in using several templates across the site. 

Using Acquia Cloud as the core of the multisite architecture, Perficient was able to deliver five brand sites in just three months. Thanks to the Acquia Cloud Platform capabilities, Perficient was able to leverage the benefits of multi-site architecture and multi-theming, allowing users greater flexibility when using new templates. This has resulted in faster and easier page creation and maintenance. 

Molson Coors saw a significant reduction in costs related to implementation, total cost of ownership, and maintenance. Additionally, Molson Coors can now create and publish new sites 2.5 times faster than before. Moreover, the new sites are optimized for technical and on-page SEO, improved time to market, a Google page score of up to 90 for newly launched sites, age gate security for users, and tightened IT security. The site is also compliant with GDPR guidelines. 

The partnership between Molson Coors and Perficient has resulted in a significant improvement in the company’s digital experience, enhancing its ability to attract and retain a global audience while keeping costs low. Additionally, Perficient won an Acquia Engage award for this project.
