Perficient OM Expert Quoted in Körber Article

Srikanth Kiran, Perficient’s Director of Commerce + OM, was published in “Why OMS is Mission Critical in 3rd Party Logistics (3PL) – An OMS Conversation Starter,” a three-part Körber article written by Matt Boland, Director, OMS Partner Ecosystem at Körber.

Srikanth shared his perspectives on how important cross-channel, real-time inventory visibility is for order orchestration within 3PLs.

The article discusses the challenges faced by 3PLs and emphasizes the need for them to adopt a transformational approach. This can be done by leveraging technologies and platforms such as order management systems (OMS) to improve efficiency, gain a competitive edge, and maintain customer loyalty.

Among the suggestions are a 10-point plan that 3PLs can follow to improve their business processes, including understanding and automating processes, identifying additional value, and capturing key performance indicators (KPIs). It’s important to be up to date with regards to integration to achieve these goals.

Consumers want to have a seamless customer experience, and that’s why order management is vital to success. Not having an accurate view of inventory can lead to loss of revenue from consumers shopping elsewhere, customer issues, and shipping delays.

Also, organizations often lack real-time order tracking, easy pickup and delivery options, and an omni-channel presence.

It’s typically medium-sized retailers that don’t have distribution centers across regions, locally or globally, that are the most likely to utilize 3PLs to address a particular market.
