Perficient colleagues within our award-winning Sitecore team bring years of experience and vast knowledge to the practice and our clients. We’re proud to announce that recently six of our colleagues have been named 2023 Sitecore MVPs.
Below is a deeper look into Joshua Hover’s role as a DXP MSO Director on the Sitecore team and his second Sitecore MVP award. He shares his passions outside of work, choosing Perficient, and his advice to future MVPs.
How long have you worked at Perficient?
I joined Perficient on July 1st, 2022. I have been thrilled to be a part of such an amazing team and it has been incredible to see how welcoming everyone has been. Leadership has been so supportive of my goals and helps foster my success.
What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life.
In my role, I work to support our client’s success by ensuring our delivery team has the tools they need to provide the best customer experience. My goal is always to deliver the best experience for our clients and ensure that they feel they are heard and have the support that they need. In my day to day, I am normally in a mixture of team calls and client calls talking through existing implementations along with discussions around new features and functionality.
How do you explain your job to family, friends, or children?
It can be difficult to summarize my job to my family and friends, so I normally just say I help support a team that delivers one-of-a-kind website experiences and deal with large enterprise clients.
Whether big or small, how do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities, or teams?
My goal is to always work to make a positive impact on those around me. I want to help build the best experience for my team that I can by helping support them in achieving their goals. Last year, I created a Sitecore-focused podcast where I invite people from the Sitecore community to talk about the latest and greatest technologies we see emerging in the Sitecore world. It has been exciting to watch it continue to grow and have featured guests from Sitecore and other vendors. It has opened doors to support people within the community that are pursuing their MVP and gives them the opportunity to be heard and talk about what they are working on.
What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?
I am a proud father of two boys and many of my proudest moments revolve around seeing them reach new milestones in their life. Last year, I started coaching my oldest son’s soccer team. It brought an immense sense of pride being able to work with children and bringing them together and helping teach them the importance of a team. It was rewarding seeing them work together and win their first season.
Achieving MVP was one of my proudest moments in my professional career. I had worked towards it for several years and was awarded my first MVP in 2022 and my second in 2023. I found that the second year was equally as thrilling to receive as the first.
One accomplishment that touches both personal and professional was starting my own podcast. It was something I was able to do on my own and it taught me many things. From planning to reaching out for guests, and editing, it has been quite a thrill. It’s been so much fun getting to know people within the community and colleagues at different levels. There has been an immense amount of support and encouragement that keeps me wanting to do more.
I can’t talk about my accomplishments without sharing my appreciation for my wife and all the support she provides. She has been an amazing part of my life and I can’t thank her enough for all that she does to support my goals.
What has your experience going through the MVP process taught you?
My experience going through the MVP process taught me many things. It showed me that the Sitecore community is a lot smaller than it initially appears. There are so many talented people out there who are excited to work with a technology that is ever-growing. Similar to my experience with Perficient, they were all very welcoming and willing to help support each other. You will find that MVPs are very open and willing to help support those who want to achieve MVP status. The individual must be willing to put in the time and effort as well.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to become an MVP?
Work with a mentor from the Sitecore MVP program. Or if you know an MVP that aligns with the work that you do or want to be a part of, approach them and ask for support. It can be daunting to start your voyage if you don’t know where to start. It’s important to leverage someone that has been through the process and can help share their experiences. Not only will you learn from them, but they will also learn from you. In my experience with the mentor program, I was able to help support my mentee, but he also helped me as well. We became a team with a common goal.
Why did you choose Perficient? What keeps you here?
I am excited to call Perficient home for numerous reasons. Perficient has a great reputation for the work that they deliver and the people they employ. Once I had the opportunity to talk to people that worked at Perficient, it immediately aligned with my core values and goals. I found from the interview process everyone was positive and excited about what they do.
The people are what keep me here and keep me excited to wake up and work every day. It’s great knowing that the people around me are here to help support each other and make a change for the positive. It doesn’t matter if it’s within your own team, or another BU, everyone has the same common goal of supporting each other and delivering a one-of-a-kind customer experience.
What are you passionate about outside of work?
When I am not at work, I love being outside with my family. Going on adventures and being around water whenever I can. I have found that these elements bring balance to my life and set me up for success in the week ahead. Aside from outdoor activities I am a car enthusiast and have been for most of my life. I am drawn to the world of F1 racing which has become a staple for my entire family.
