In the latest interview in our employee series, we sat down with David Franco Chica, UX Designer at Perficient Latin America and a valuable part of our UI/UX team.
How long have you been at Perficient Latin America?
I’ve been working here for about 18 and a half years. I was here when there were about 60 employees total in Perficient Latin America, now we’re up to over 600.
What gets you up in the morning, ready for another day at Perficient Latin America?
Well, I get up knowing that’s there a lot of work ahead of us. We know that there are a lot of challenges, but there are also a lot of exciting new things we get to do and a lot of things we can learn at Perficient Latin America. So, maybe that’s the first motivation in the morning; getting to face a lot of different challenges, do a lot of cool stuff, and learn a lot of amazing things, as well.
How would you describe your job to a child?
If I had to describe what being a UX designer is to a little kid, I’d probably say that my job is to analyze and draw things so that you can play with them on your computer.

What is the coolest, most interesting thing you’ve learned recently?
Most recently, I’d say it’s having more direct interaction with clients. About 5 months ago, I started interfacing with clients, getting to hear and understand their needs and requirements, and establishing really good communication so we can work together to create some really cool products. Some of our accounts are international, so part of what I’m doing is communicating with clients directly to present our progress and finding ways that we can help them. It’s been an interesting thing to do and learn about, and I’m excited to be working with them.
What would you say to someone that’s considering working at Perficient Latin America?
I’d say that it would be a very good decision. Perficient Latin America gives you a good amount of freedom and a lot of opportunities. So, you can work how you like to work, but at the same time you’re constantly being challenged to keep improving and to keep growing. There are a lot of cool people here, there are a lot of benefits to working at Perficient Latin America, and it’s a place where you can definitely learn a lot.
