Tradition MQ DR involves a Backup Queue Manage. Per the IBM MQ info center, a Backup Queue Manager needs to use linear logging. Linear logging is a great feature of MQ, if you need it. I started experimenting with assorted MQ configurations to see if I could create an MQ HA and DR topology that was not dependent on linear logging. Once I proved my idea would work with both MQ v7.5 and MQ v8, I decided to document it.
The purpose of this document is to provide cookbook level instructions on installing IBM MQ v8 or V7.5 in a multi-instance configuration with a second Standby as the DR site. The big win on this approach is that linear logging is not required; it is an option.
