Not necessarily a Portal or Collaboration specific post but Mashable’s Shane Snow wrote up a nice piece on the redesign of Thrillist.com – a 12 million user website. At the end, this is a good case on design in general and provides emphasis on creating great user experiences to attain website and application goals. This could be a reskinning of Connections to attain and exceed goal user adoption rates or considerations in redesigns and UX endeavors for a new portal implementations. My favorite snippet:
Good design is not just pretty (sometimes it can be invisible), design is a lot of work. On the web, great user experience equals time saved and money made.
Design is becoming more and more attainable and central to IT and business. Its not a luxury to consider user experience anymore, its essential to a successful web or application implementation. Bringing technologist and designers together, as partners, that understand and agree to an end result are imperative.
