When Perficient opened its domestic delivery center (DDC) in Lafayette, LA, in 2016, part of the vision for the new location was to have colleagues play a role in building and shaping the office space.
Since that time, colleagues have embraced the opportunity by adding personal touches in their work spaces and throughout the office for holidays. Perhaps most notably, though, is a team that recently took the vision to a whole new level.
A group of colleagues handcrafted a conference room table with wood that had been cut down from one of their parents’ land.
None of the team members had ever built a table before. Several had never even used a hammer. Regardless, they got together on evenings and weekends and did a beautiful job.
About five different varieties of wood were used in order to give the table a totally unique look.
The team also added two star inlays on each end of the table. These were especially challenging, and geometrical skills where definitely stretched in order to get the layout just right.
“There is pride in those stars for sure,” said MaryBeth Ostasz, General Manger, DDC, about the special designs.
The team now uses the table in one of the DDC conference rooms. It’s a really nice discussion piece whenever there are visitors to the office for meetings.
The DDC augments Perficient’s offshore delivery centers in India and China, further optimizing Perficient’s global network and comprehensive technology, delivery management and industry vertical expertise across North America.
