One of the great aspects of working in Perficient’s Strategic Advisory Team is the the chance to look at broad technology (Portals, Content, Social) vs. single vendor (I’m the Oracle Portal person, or IBM Portal, etc.). That also means that I, and my peers, divide up the portal vendors and spend time at their conferences and performing research on the marketplace.
This week I am with Liferay in Chicago for a packed few days. Liferay continues to do well in Gartner’s Portal review. On Liferay’s web site you can download the Gartner quadrant report, which was updated in September of this year. The magic quadrant below is on the Liferay’s page in the link.
As an open source product, with an Enterprise support offering, Liferay is accessible to any company or developer that wants to learn and invest the time. While Liferay isn’t Perficient’s largest portal practice, we have some amazing customers that have, with our assistance, delivered compelling and engaging sites. One of the reasons the sites are compelling is our Experience Design practice (XD). XD is our creative digital agency and works with customers to understand the personas and journey maps that will make the site valuable. Because they also operate across technologies, customers benefit from all the projects XD delivers. Some of the work that XD has done will be on display at our booth during the conference.
