IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.1 Dashboarding

Living on the east coast while working on the west coast presents the problem of what do to on the bi-weekly 6 hour plane rides. Fortunately, I was offered the opportunity to be a technical reviewer of Ankit Garg’s IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.1 Dashboarding Cookbook (PACKT Publishing, 2012, July).

Garg uses a “step-by-step” recipe approach  for creating and distributing dashboards using IBM Cognos 10.1 BI along with screenshots, simple explanations and tips which all come together to bring the “basic user” up to speed quickly.

This book gives a straight forward explanation of the IBM dashboard components, compares dashboarding in Business Insight vs. Business Insight Advanced and successfully walks the reader through various “recipes” for creating a “first dashboard” with the tool.

Here is the books table of contents:

Chapter 1: IBM Cognos 10 Dashboard Components

Chapter 2: Business Insight Dashboards

Chapter 3: Business Insight Advanced Dashboards

Chapter 4: Creating Dashboards in IBM Cognos Business Insight Advanced

Chapter 5: Creating Dashboards in IBM Cognos Business Insight

Chapter 6: Sharing and Collaborating with Other Users

If you have some exposure to IBM Cognos BI and want to start creating dashboards – this book is a great start.  I enjoyed reading and reviewing this book and would highly recommend picking up a copy!
