Just like 8.5.1 did. A few missed steps in that release but it was super solid and was a monumental shift in their UC offering. 8.5.2, which is soon to be released (June 11) has what you have come to expect from IBM Sametime, but fixed some glaring gaps such as that pestering NAT traversal issue that held many of people up from deploying. Adding on to a great meeting environment they now support video/audio in the web browser as well a better video network manager – a nice plus if you decided for the highest setting for video codec because your network folks said “we’ve got plenty of bandwidth.” And then there is the Android support added:
For those UC folks out there IBM has a nice offering call UC Lite which is summarized here:
A new licensing option, the IBM Sametime Unified Telephony Lite Client, that enables telephony and video calls from the Sametime software already installed on your desktop with minimal infrastructure requirements.
There is a bunch of other stuff including more supported platforms which can be found HERE. I plan on blogging more from hands on experience in the near future. If you have any questions, post them in comments and I will work to get answers to them!
