IBM Refreshes Forms and Post New Quickr Release

IBM continues to enhance and refresh their software product related to Portal and Collaboration.   They have a couple releases coming in the next few days.  Forms is about to release version 4.0 and Quickr has a point release in 8.5.1.

Lotus Forms 4.0

I’m a big fan of forms software, especially when it’s paired with an easy to use workflow engine.  IBM will release version 4 of Lotus Form on December 10th. Here’s the press release.

IBM Forms 4.0 helps line of business as well as IT users to automate forms-based processes. It is designed to help deliver the following benefits:

    * Compelling, interactive user experience through new modern look and feel and Web 2.0 user interface
    * Reduced time to value and total cost of ownership
          o Lower development cost through reusable forms components
          o Improved integration with existing infrastructure through improved web service interaction
          o Improved performance and scalability through 64-bit support in server 
    * Higher productivity through anytime, anywhere access on tablets like iPad

Quickr 8.5.1

IBM runs Quickr on both the Java and Domino platforms.  This release focuses on Domino. Here’s the press release.

* Support for Domino Off-Line Services, which enables users to create a copy of a Quickr Place on their local machine, make changes to the local copy without a network connection, and then synchronize changes on the server when reconnected to the network (Microsoft® Windows® users only).
* Availability of Hebrew and Arabic national language versions so now all national languages are supported.
* Import and export support for Microsoft Excel 2007 formatted files into the new “List” feature for structured content. Lists were first introduced in Lotus Quickr 8.5 for Domino.
* Easy, direct upgrade process from Lotus Quickr for Domino 8.1, 8.2, and 8.5.
* Support for Lotus Connections 3.
* Support for Lotus Sametime® 8.5.1.
