On May 31, the Atlanta Perficient team had the opportunity to participate in an Atlanta Habitat for Humanity build—and not just any build, but a Pride Build, kicking off June’s Pride Month with purpose.

About Atlanta Habitat for Humanity

Atlanta Habitat for Humanity brings together families, communities, and volunteers to help more people access safe, affordable housing. Their work goes beyond construction—it includes advocacy for policy changes that remove systemic barriers preventing low-income and historically underserved communities from achieving housing stability.

The Pride Build specifically highlights and supports LGBTQ+ homeowners, volunteers, and allies, celebrating inclusivity while shedding light on the challenges LGBTQ+ individuals continue to face in accessing homeownership due to longstanding discrimination and inequality.

What We Did

During Saturday’s build, we rolled up our sleeves and got to work on two homes in the Atlanta area.

Some of us spent the morning inside, painting interior walls with a fresh coat of color. It was exciting to see the house start to feel like a home!

Others took on outdoor tasks, including installing soffit and fascia, measuring and cutting materials, and handling tools most of us don’t use in our day jobs. Ben and Theo were especially excited to take on the ladder work, helping secure trim and making sure everything was lined up just right.

By the end of the day, we’d made real progress on both homes—completing all the interior and exterior painting, installing doors, and nearly completing the soffit and fascia. It was rewarding to see how much we could accomplish together in just one day, knowing it brought these future homeowners one step closer to move-in day.

Why It Matters

The work wasn’t easy, but hearing directly from the future homeowners reminded us exactly why it was all worth it. Two of them shared what this opportunity means to them:

“This house will represent not just a personal achievement but a milestone in building long-term security for my family. Beyond just a place to live, it will be a foundation for creating generational wealth.”

“The most exciting aspect of being a homeowner is I achieved a goal I didn’t think was possible—but now I’ll have something to leave to my children in the future.”

We’re proud to have played a part in helping these families take that next step forward.

Perficient Giving

It was really meaningful to step away from our day-to-day work to come together for a cause bigger than ourselves. At Perficient, opportunities like this through our Giving Employee Resource Group are a reminder of the values we share and the impact we can have when we show up for others. We look forward to more moments of giving back, together!
