In this blog, we have the pleasure of introducing you to Katy Murray, a dedicated and passionate Account Manager in Perficient’s Houston business unit. Katy’s journey to Perficient and her contributions to the company make for an inspiring story worth sharing that you can check out below!
Walk me through your career journey, where did you start, and how did you get to where you are now?
Katy’s career journey is a remarkable example of how seizing opportunities can lead to a fulfilling career. She began her professional life at Sewell Automotive, a privately owned group of auto dealers based in Dallas, Texas. Katy’s connection with Sewell started with a mock interview during her time at the University of Houston. Little did she know that this would become her first employer, marking the beginning of an incredible journey. Over the course of a decade, Katy explored various roles at Sewell, including sales, marketing, and finance. She thrived in the dynamic environment but wanted to transition to a more sales-specific role. Katy’s career path then took her to Salesforce, where she ventured into a position selling commercial business services. This experience set the stage for her role at Perficient, where she joined as an Account Manager in early 2023.
As an Account Manager at Perficient, Katy focuses on building the company’s brand and increasing client awareness. That said, her commitment to sharing the Perficient story and understanding how we can support our clients’ growth is evident.
Katy attributes her success in this role to her hyper-communication and problem-solving skills, which enable her to efficiently connect with clients and colleagues. She’s not afraid to find the answers to questions she isn’t familiar with and is determined to tackle any challenge that comes her way.
In what other ways do you get involved with Perficient and the local Houston community?
Katy shares Perficient’s values of giving back and is actively involved in the local Houston community. She is an essential member of the Houston Perficient Giving Team, helping organize local events, including food drives and even supporting our company-wide Hunger Action Month initiative. In the 8 months Katy has been with Perficient, she has already made a wave of positive impact and we can’t wait to see what she takes on next.
What is one of your favorite memories with Perficient so far?
Katy was ecstatic to share all about the pancake breakfast that our Houston office recently hosted! The unique part about this event was that it allowed our Houston-based colleagues to come together on a Friday morning before work and enjoy each other’s company. Everyone was able to bond and enjoy the delicious homemade pancakes that will be remembered for years to come!
What can we find you doing outside of the typical 9-5?
Although Katy was born in New York, she has spent her entire life in Houston and is deeply rooted in the Texas community. If she’s not in Houston, you can catch her traveling back to New York to spend time with family and friends. Travel is a big part of Katy’s life. When asked “where is your next dream travel destination?” Katy mentioned she would love to revisit Capri, Italy as this was one of her most memorable vacations to date. All this said, Katy is an avid reader, live music enjoyer, and all-in-all a proud Perficient employee.
Her dedication to building the Perficient brand, fostering client relationships, and giving back to the community makes her an invaluable part of the Perficient team. Katy’s story is a testament to the remarkable individuals who contribute to Perficient’s success.
