Take Your SharePoint With You: NewsGator Social Sites on the iPad

by on May 14th, 2012

So you’re using NewsGator Social Sites on your SharePoint intranet and you want to stay connected when you’re on the go?  Check out my new video blog on using the iPad app for NewsGator Social Sites.  As NewsGator’s inaugural Partner of the Year (2011), we just might know a little something about this.

Oh, and if you’re not using Social Sites to make SharePoint more social, you probably should be.  There’s a lot of knowledge out there to be managed that winds up slipping through your fingers if you don’t bring those conversations online and take advantage of crowdsourcing!

Microsoft Poised to Enhance Enterprise Social Business Solutions

by on March 14th, 2012

Mark Fidelman of harmon.ie wrote an article for Forbes today outlining Microsoft’s current position, in which they are poised for a launch into social business tools and solutions for the enterprise. He argues that Microsoft, with their business technology foothold in the enterprise, is best positioned to become a primary leader in the social business space.

Here are some key highlights from his post:

  • “At least 75% of the organizations surveyed have deployed or plan to implement a social solution to increase information sharing this year. Yet according to Gartner, through 2012, over 70% of these social business initiatives will fail. “
  • “So what does the Social Enterprise look like according to Microsoft? It is mainly comprised of four things: the cloud, social technologies, mobile and analytics.  Each helping to power a connected, contextual user experience where people getting things done is the focus – technology is NOT.”
  • “For Microsoft, Azure and Office 365 will power the vision, enabling companies to easily and cost effectively support the next generation knowledge worker.”

I noticed that Fidelman does not outline what specifically Microsoft will be now be offering in social business solutions beyond the solutions they’ve already created in cloud, big data and collaboration tools. But his article certainly makes me excited to see what comes next.

FINALLY, Microsoft Embraces Social — And It’s Going to be Big

Extending Collaboration Beyond the Firewall

by on January 11th, 2012

Collaboration platforms, like SharePoint, have become key assets inside any organization. Utilizing portals to share documents, calendars, lists, and resources are no longer a luxury, but a necessity within organizations. I know our team couldn’t live without our SharePoint site- it’s by far the easiest way for us to connect on our projects and make sure we are on the same page (both literally and figuratively).

While SharePoint is a great tool to use internally, it’s also an amazing platform when it resides outside the firewall, where collaboration can exist between partners, vendors, and customers. Creating portals to promote collaboration outside of your immediate organization not only enhances efficiency, but relationships as well.

In our upcoming webinar series “Thinking Outside the Firewall with SharePoint”, Perficient will share with you the many ways SharePoint can be utilized to connect your business with the organizations you collaborate with on a daily basis.

We’ll be kicking off our series on January 24th with an Extranets webinar. Extranets connect organizations to employees, partners, vendors and customers and provide a secure, engaging and personalized interaction with people, information, applications and business processes. With the proper strategy in place, extranets can provide a strong competitive advantage, reduce costs and ultimately foster business growth.

Perficient’s SharePoint Extranets Webinar is a must attend event for organizations looking to:

  • Reduce supply chain      inefficiencies
  • Interact with your loyal customer      base
  • Extend customer self service      strategies
  • Share business resources with      partners
  • Enable mobile capabilities
  • Extend remote employee access

Join Perficient’s SharePoint experts for this informative webinar to discuss extranet capabilities, best practices, and use cases. Register today!
