Success at Perficient is powered by our people who shatter boundaries and make the impossible happen. Our global culture is rooted in a shared sense of purpose and a commitment to physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Work-life balance and self-care aren’t just personal goals—they’re part of Perficient’s culture. Whether it’s setting boundaries, staying active, or prioritizing mental health, our colleagues embrace wellness as part of their routine.

In celebration of International Self-Care Day, we launched a four-part blog series featuring advice from Perficient colleagues. The first blog explores how colleagues navigate the early stages of their careers with intention and authentic connection. The second installment dives deeper into personal well-being, sharing how our team prioritizes balance and self-compassion. Learn how our colleagues practice self-care by watching the video below.

Building Healthy Work Habits and Supporting Balance

Some mornings begin with a quiet moment—coffee in hand, journaling, an energizing walk, or sitting in peaceful silence. Others start with a productivity kick with back-to-back meetings and a cluttered to-do list. While daily routines can vary, striving for balance is essential to being present, productive, and fulfilled.

Perficient’s Romania office Club Transilvania tennis match.

Making time for restoration helps each person show up with clarity and renewed purpose. Small, intentional lifestyle choices can mean anything from setting healthy boundaries, disconnecting after hours, and learning something new.

I’m passionate about learning and education, and I will often watch educational videos, read, or take online classes. I also do volunteer work, which intersects with a lot of my passions: learning about others’ experiences, growing empathy, as well as building community. Another thing I do just for fun is play board games. I like board games because they flex your mind and build community. Jeff Molsen, Senior Technical Architect, Adobe

For many colleagues, the most rewarding moments happen outside the office: parents cheering on their kids, volunteering, or participating in a fitness class. It’s not about squeezing more into the day but being deliberate with energy and attention.

My sons play multiple sports, and my husband dedicates his time to serving on the board of a community youth sports organization and coaching our boys’ football teams. I love watching them play, be part of a team, thrive in school, and actively participate in our community. I make it a priority to never miss my kids’ sporting or school events. Being there for them is critical to achieving and feeling that work-life balance.” Erin Zapata, Director, Microsoft

Leading by Example: How Leaders Shape Intentional Work-Life Balance

A thriving workplace begins with leaders who understand that well-being fuels performance. When managers prioritize both professional growth and personal fulfillment, they create a culture where all colleagues feel empowered.

“One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is fostering an environment where my team members can thrive. I am committed to ensuring that they are engaged in meaningful and enjoyable work, feel valued for their contributions, and receive the support they need to succeed. Their well-being and professional satisfaction are paramount, and I am dedicated to being their advocate.” — Erin Zapata, Director, Microsoft

Effective leaders tailor support to meet the diverse needs of their teams, setting a tone of trust and respect. They also recognize that feeling valued is essential to sustaining a sense of belonging. One of the ways Perficient leaders and colleagues alike can reinforce this is through the Perficient Shoutouts program, which honors professional achievements and individuals who are making a difference. A live intranet feed highlights colleagues around the globe, reinforcing a culture where appreciation is visible, frequent, and meaningful.

“I am grateful to work at a company that prioritizes work-life balance and fosters a culture of appreciation for colleague contributions. The ability to maintain a healthy equilibrium between work and personal life is extremely important to me.”— Stephanie Sterling, Business Operations Manager, Healthcare

Empathetic leadership goes beyond task lists–it means checking in, recognizing contributions, and championing wellness. By leading with intention and balance, leaders build sustainable, high-performing teams.

Strong Body, Clear Mind: How Fitness and Self-Care Improve Focus

Colleagues in Monterrey unwind with a Mario Kart Tournament

Not only does self-care include rest, but it also involves movement and energy. Whether it’s participating in CrossFit, recreational sports, yoga, or a drive to unwind, these routines help us stay grounded and focused.

Romina Neves, senior business consultant, Uruguay, finds strength and confidence through pushing herself in weightlifting. “Practicing CrossFit and Martial Arts has deeply shaped my leadership style, helping me stay focused under pressure, lead with example and discipline, and foster collaboration through respect. I value working at Perficient because it allows me to maintain a healthy balance between personal and professional life, reminding me that well-being and performance go hand in hand.”

Physical activity sharpens the mind, reduces stress, improves sleep, and enhances focus. It’s a way to recharge and return to work with renewed energy and unique perspective. Joe Tufo, lead technical consultant, Sitecore, shares how sports have helped him stay connected to his family and build lifelong friendships. “I coach both of my sons in baseball. I still play in two amateur baseball leagues, plus I play recreational basketball. Sports have always been a big part of my life, and I’ve met some of my best friends through playing sports. It’s a great way to stay connected, stay active, and share something with my family.

These moments, whether cheering from the sidelines or spending time together, create a sense of purpose that extends beyond the workplace. It’s important to explore different activities and use physical wellness as a tool to manage stress and boost productivity.

“I really enjoy driving and exploring new places, especially small towns. For me, driving represents freedom and gives me a moment to disconnect. One of my best experiences was driving from Mexico City to Cancún, where I truly felt that freedom.”  Juan Cardona, Technical Consultant, Colombia

Supporting Health, Balance, and Belonging Around the World

In 2024, Perficient earned three Top Workplaces Culture Excellence Awards, recognizing our focus on well-being, leadership, and purpose-driven work. These honors underscore that personal wellness and a commitment to excellence build a stronger community. Whether you’re just starting your journey at Perficient or expanding your commitment to well-being, our LiveWell Employee Resource Group (ERG) supports colleagues at every stage of their wellness journey.

Colleagues in Perficient’s Chennai office relax through yoga.

An example of that is the LiveWell ERG’s Global Wellness Challenge, which united colleagues worldwide around movement, mindful practices, and healthy habits. From fostering community, accountability, and shared growth, these activities help us show up as our best selves at work.

Wellness looks different for each person, and our global colleagues take unique approaches to embracing a healthy work-life balance. In June, our Nagpur and Pune offices celebrated International Yoga Day with a workplace yoga session that promoted mindfulness. Organized by Perficient’s India Women in Technology ERG, the event featured calming music, guided stretches, and a refreshing reset that inspired connection. Yoga is a powerful practice that supports both physical and mental well-being, and these moments enabled colleagues to remain grounded, build resilience, and return to work with renewed focus.

As an intern, this was my first time participating in an International Yoga Day celebration at the office, and it was truly refreshing! It reminded me how important it is to move around and include simple exercises in our daily routine – especially during long workdays.” Punyaa Dixit, Consulting Intern, Nagpur

Perficient Wins EX Impact Award for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/04/16/perficient-wins-ex-impact-award-for-diversity-equity-inclusion-and-belonging/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/04/16/perficient-wins-ex-impact-award-for-diversity-equity-inclusion-and-belonging/#respond Wed, 16 Apr 2025 15:59:18 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=380045

With more than 7,000 colleagues spanning technologies and time zones, Perficient constantly pursues progress centered around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB). The feedback our colleagues share through Perficient’s annual Employee Engagement Survey provides insight into the colleague experience that helps us continue to build an award-winning culture where everyone can thrive. Perficient partners with Perceptyx, an independent analytics firm, to facilitate the survey and ensure actionable, transparent insights.

Each year, Perceptyx hosts the EX Impact Awards to honor organizations that leverage its platform to uncover critical insights, take meaningful action, and elevate the colleague experience. We’re thrilled to announce that Perficient was recently recognized with a 2025 EX Impact Award in the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) category.

Our recognition underscores Perficient’s success in transforming feedback into impactful initiatives that resonate across its global workforce, and our dedication to fostering a workplace where every colleague feels heard, valued, and supported.

To celebrate this incredible achievement, Perceptyx hosted a virtual panel discussion on Tuesday, April 15, featuring representatives from global companies who received a 2025 EX Impact Award. Our colleague, Felipe Garzon Correa, talent development specialist, Colombia, participated as a panel member, sharing how Perficient uncovered key insights and accelerated growth for our colleagues through our Employee Resource Groups (ERGs).

“Our ERGs reflect the incredible sense of belonging of our global Perficient family, but at their core, it’s all about our people, people who are making a difference in their communities and across borders every day,” said Felipe Garzon Correa, Talent Development Specialist, Colombia. “Together, we’re not just a company; we’re a worldwide network united by impact, driven by outcomes, and committed to shaping a brighter future for everyone.”

Multicultural competency and understanding are critical to Perficient’s mission to shatter boundaries and forge a bright future where all voices are heard.

With colleagues located around the world, our people bring knowledgeable insights and dynamic mindsets to the table. We channel these strengths through our five ERGs, which foster a positive workplace culture, create opportunities for networking and connection, and enable mentorship and career development. Perficient taps into essential feedback from annual engagement surveys and ERGs to hear new ideas, understand diverse perspectives, and amplify key stories that drive engagement.

Through our ERGs, colleagues can build meaningful relationships with others who have similar interests, such as social responsibility, health and well-being, environmental sustainability, and raising awareness for meaningful causes. These inclusive and collaborative communities offer a platform for professional development that celebrates individual voices and drives impactful initiatives.

Acknowledging the challenges of balancing mental, physical, and emotional well-being, LiveWell offers evidence-based resources and activities that empower colleagues to prioritize their health.

By participating in our LiveWell ERG, colleagues can find balance and thrive personally and professionally through a supportive community focused on overall well-being. “PRISM has quickly become a cherished space for our LGBTQ+ colleagues and allies,” said Ed Hoffman, Senior Vice President and PRISM Executive Sponsor. “The ERG connects colleagues beyond geographic and organizational boundaries, enabling networking and innovation. Perficient supports its ERGs in drawing colleagues together based on their interests and shared experiences so our workforce can connect on a more meaningful level.”

Our PRISM ERG contributes to an environment where all voices are heard and celebrated by fostering a culture of inclusion and understanding. Since becoming an ERG, PRISM has hosted a variety of events, including a monthly film club that focuses on LGBTQ+ topics and themes, an educational forum on using gender pronouns in the professional world, and a festive showcase of how colleagues celebrate Pride Month across the globe. Through educational sessions, community engagement, and advocacy-focused events, PRISM aims to reduce stigma and foster understanding, ensuring that everyone feels valued and supported. Since launching as an official ERG in 2024, membership has increased by 25 percent.

Perficient Awards $5,000 Global Grants to Breakthrough T1D and The Akshaya Patra Foundation https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/03/28/perficient-awards-5000-global-grants-to-breakthrough-t1d-and-the-akshaya-patra-foundation/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/03/28/perficient-awards-5000-global-grants-to-breakthrough-t1d-and-the-akshaya-patra-foundation/#respond Fri, 28 Mar 2025 15:48:49 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=379372

At Perficient, we’re driven by a shared passion for philanthropy and continuously give our time and effort to inspire change in our global communities. Through the Perficient Gives Global Grants Program, colleagues from across our global offices can nominate their favorite charitable organizations to receive a one-time $5,000 donation from Perficient. To qualify for the program, all nominations must align with Perficient’s corporate giving pillars: advancing STEM education and improving health and well-being.

We’re proud to celebrate the Akshaya Patra Foundation and Breakthrough T1D as the latest recipients of a Perficient Gives Global Grant! Several colleagues nominated Akshaya Patra Foundation for a global grant, including Rishi Jambunathan, senior technical consultant, Commerce, Raghuraman Ramdoss, director, Chennai, and Venkateswarlu Nandyala, lead technical consultant, Bangalore. Continue reading as they share more about the organization’s mission, and learn more about Breakthrough T1D from Connor Stieferman, senior marketing manager, Corporate Marketing, as he reflects on his personal experience with the organization.

Akshaya Patra Foundation

For millions of children in India, hunger is a daily obstacle that stands between them and their education. The Akshaya Patra Foundation is an organization based in Bangalore, India, that provides nutritious meals to underprivileged children and empowers them to learn and grow. Perficient’s donation will help the foundation combat childhood hunger by providing healthy school lunches for children in India.

Nominated by Rishi, Raghuraman, and Venkateswarlu, the Akshaya Patra Foundation aims to counter malnutrition and ensure that no child in India is deprived of education because of hunger. Since its inception, the Akshaya Patra Foundation has benefitted more than 2 million children and served more than 4 billion meals to those in need. The foundation does not just provide substantial nourishment, it empowers minds. By ensuring no child learns on an empty stomach, the Akshaya Patra Foundation is shattering the poverty cycle by providing students in India with the resources they need for success.

“I was so happy to hear that the Akshaya Patra Foundation was able to achieve 4 billion meals in 2024. I personally believe the only way to alleviate poverty is through literacy and nutritional development of children. I nominated the Akshaya Patra Foundation for a Perficient Global Grant because it aligned with Perficient’s core value of lifting others through impactful change.”

– Raghuraman Ramdoss, Director, Chennai

Fighting Food Insecurity in India

No child should choose between food and education. Through the Perficient Gives Global Grants Program, our donation will support the Akshaya Patra Foundation’s efforts to bring hope to children without access to healthy food. The organization strives to address classroom hunger and malnutrition for children across India by implementing several programs, including the PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal) Programme, that provide nutritious meals for children studying in government and government-aided schools.

“I nominated the Akshaya Patra Foundation for a Perficient Global Grant because I believe that their impact and the problem that they are solving is very important. Particularly how they are helping children in the classroom as a subset of the overall hunger crisis in India.”

– Rishi Jambunathan, Senior Technical Consultant, Commerce

Together, we’re making a difference in the fight against food insecurity and ensuring that all children have access to the nourishment they need to achieve their dreams. There are many opportunities to get involved with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, including:

  • Participating in online volunteering
  • Inspiring change with online fundraising
  • Raising awareness through social media and blogging

“This Global Grant will spread joy and happiness among needy children and could help brighten their future, said Venkateswarlu. “I can imagine the smiling faces of the children while receiving their food. If a hot, nutritious mid-day meal serves as an incentive for children to come to school, then it is important that we concentrate on extending this initiative across India, especially in rural areas. I’m happy to be indirectly part of their mission.”

Breakthrough T1D

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic autoimmune disease that prevents the pancreas from creating insulin, which is essential for turning food and blood sugars into energy. With more than 9.4 million people living with type 1 diabetes around the world, finding a cure and reducing the disease’s impact has never been more important. Breakthrough T1D is a research and advocacy organization that funds research for the development of new therapies and treatments of type 1 diabetes.

Founded in 1970 by families with a type 1 diabetes diagnosis, Breakthrough T1D is opening doors by connecting the brightest minds to advance treatments, influence policies, and improve access to treatments and care. Breakthrough T1D ensures that no one facing type 1 diabetes does so alone. As the spouse to someone with type 1 diabetes, Perficient colleague Connor Stieferman, knows the influence of Breakthrough T1D’s work firsthand.

“I’ve always been aware of the existence of type 1 diabetes, but I learned a lot more about it 10 years ago when I started dating my wife, Elise,” said Connor Stieferman, senior marketing manager, Corporate Marketing. “Elise was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was seven years old. She was sick and was hospitalized. Her doctors did not know what was wrong until they started testing her blood sugar and were able to diagnose her as a type 1 diabetic. She is now a thriving adult, a professional, a wife, and a mother.”

Shattering Boundaries Through Type 1 Diabetes Research

What causes type 1 diabetes isn’t currently known, but it’s believed to be a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Researchers believe that the autoimmune disorder begins when the body mistakenly destroys insulin producing cells in the pancreas. There is currently no cure for the disease, but scientists are conducting extensive research to understand how to:

  • Restore or replace insulin production
  • Turn off the autoimmune attack responsible for destroying beta cells

While the exact cause of type 1 diabetes is unknown, what doesn’t cause it is eating too much or eating too much sugar. Elise’s pancreas didn’t shut down because she ate too much candy as a kid. That’s just not how type 1 diabetes works,” said Connor. “People living with type 1 diabetes can eat any and everything they want; they just have a little more maintenance that goes along with that. Since they don’t have an insulin-producing pancreas, people with type 1 need to manually administer an appropriate dosage of insulin to counterbalance the blood sugar increase caused by the food they eat.

Carefully monitoring blood sugar levels and taking insulin by injection or a handheld pump is key for those living with type 1 diabetes. Breakthrough T1D has been influential in lowering the cost of insulin, and the organization is actively accelerating innovation focused on screening, disease-modifying therapies, and cell therapies.

Thanks to the Perficient Gives Global Grants Program, our donation will break barriers and provide funding for groundbreaking research to enable all people with type 1 diabetes to better manage their symptoms.

“Perficient is committed to improving the health and well-being of its communities, and this donation to Breakthrough T1D is a great example of that commitment in action. As someone who knows and loves somebody with type 1 diabetes, I know that this donation will make a difference.”

– Connor Stieferman, Senior Marketing Manager, Corporate Marketing

Our Commitment to Creating Brighter Futures

Perficient and our colleagues are strengthening our global communities, improving the lives of others, and spreading acts of kindness. We’re committed to fostering a culture that inspires everyone to make a difference, no matter how large or small. By supporting organizations like the Akshaya Patra Foundation and Breakthrough T1D, we’re igniting lasting, positive change around the world. Whether it’s a child in India having lunch at school or loved one with type 1 diabetes finding support, we can drive change and bring comfort to those who need it the most.

The Perficient Gives Global Grants Program is a unique opportunity for our colleagues to nominate charities that are meaningful to them to receive a global grant. Since launching the program, we have selected 10 charities to each receive $5,000 – for a total of $50,000 donated. Stay tuned for future announcements about the program and read the Life at Perficient blog to discover how our colleagues are paying it forward.

What’s something you wish your colleagues knew about you?

I am passionate about continuous learning and growth. I’m always on the lookout for new skills to learn and ways to improve, both personally and professionally. My drive to learn isn’t just about my own development. It’s also about bringing new ideas and perspectives to the team, sparking innovation, and driving us forward together.

I’m committed to enhancing my leadership skills and creating an environment where everyone feels valued and empowered. By investing in my team’s success, we not only achieve our collective goals but also contribute to the broader mission of our organization.

I also want my colleagues to know that I cherish family, nature, and tranquility. I enjoy activities like gardening and hiking because they help me connect with nature and my loved ones.
