Perficient’s vibrant culture is fueled by leaders who bring sharp thinking, deep expertise, and a collaborative spirit to their day-to-day work. We recently connected with John Vylasek, senior solution architect, whose journey from military intelligence and commodity trading to client strategy has shaped his bold, visionary approach to problem-solving.

John currently leads strategic data efforts at Perficient, using AI, analytics, and deep business knowledge to help clients drive impact. In this People of Perficient profile, we’ll explore how John’s diverse background and passion for innovation empower Perficient to deliver transformative, AI-first solutions with purpose and impact.

What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life.

As a data strategist, I help solve a wide range of client challenges. My day usually starts with reviewing my plan from the previous day while also checking emails and Teams for any new adjustments. I’m currently engaged full-time as Data Delivery Director with a major global financial services client, where things can shift quickly due to regulatory and business requirement changes. Thankfully, my team is always responsive and able to adapt as needed, which makes Perficient a great strategic partner.

How did your experience in the military shape your approach to leadership?

John 2

My time in military intelligence taught me how to break down complex problems, communicate clearly up the chain of command, and lead with both confidence and humility. I was asked at the age of 19 to assemble a team of intelligence analysts with the skills required to tackle an important and ambiguous challenge. We developed effective new techniques, and just months before Operation Desert Storm began, we applied our solutions to great effect. That experience taught me the value of building the right team, being bold yet respectful, and focusing on meaningful impact. One of the biggest lessons I carry is to “just make it happen”—a mindset I apply daily, whether with clients or internal teams.

What brought you to Perficient, and how do your past experiences align with your current role?

I joined Perficient while consulting independently, thanks to a referral, and it just clicked. My background in tech, leadership, analytics, and decomplicating ambiguity makes data strategy a great fit. I’m still coding, diagramming, translating complexity into clarity, and diving headfirst into new challenges. The consulting side was new to me at this scale, but because I’ve solved similar problems before, I adjusted quickly. I love helping clients align, adapt, and problem-solve with confidence, and I get genuinely excited when a new curveball comes my way.

Whether big or small, how do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities, or teams?

I make a difference by asking many questions. It might seem small, but it helps the entire team learn and speak up. I often hear, “I was wondering the same thing,” which creates a more open, collaborative environment. I also love sharing resources that have helped me grow, like Cloud Data Architectures Demystified or helpful Udemy courses. As a lifelong learner, I’m always generous when passing along what’s worked for me.

Whether it’s creating a quick diagram during a meeting or reframing a problem in clearer terms, I break things down into understandable chunks so people can understand our goals and act on next steps with confidence. I take the same approach in client discovery—asking leading questions, listening closely, and creating a safe space for open and transparent communication. Being humble and approachable makes it easier for others to do the same, and that’s where real progress happens.

What was the most rewarding part about serving as a mentor in the Mark Cuban AI Bootcamp?

John

The most rewarding part of mentoring in the Mark Cuban AI Bootcamp was watching a group of bright high school students come together, collaborate, and build something meaningful. With some light coaching on inclusion and teamwork, they quickly aligned and focused on a shared goal: using AI to help people in the physical world.

We developed a gesture recognition model to help people with communication challenges express specific needs through custom-trained motions, even when away from familiar caregivers. It was powerful to see how that idea took shape through trial, iteration, and collaboration.

By the end of the program, not only did our model work, but my students also won the final “Shark Tank” pitch for the most impactful idea. One of them said, “We never would have gotten here if everyone didn’t think differently,” which really stuck with me. That diversity of thought, and the chance to help guide it, was incredibly rewarding. Hearing later that one student had highlighted her experience working with me as a key takeaway from the program made it even more meaningful.

What advice would you give to colleagues who are just starting their career with Perficient? John 5

My first piece of advice is simple: handle your basics. Get your timesheets in, complete your training, and manage your time like a professional while always learning and improving yourself. It may seem small and obvious, but it sets the tone for everything else you do.

Second, understand that how you show up internally at Perficient may need to be different than how you show up with a client. With clients, you lead through collaboration and patience, bringing people along at their own pace. Internally, especially during pursuits, business moves fast, and it helps to be more direct and decisive. Know your role, understand who’s leading, and stay aligned. If you have a concern, think about whether it’s the right time to raise it. I’ve coached and mentored people on this—sometimes it’s better to hold off on a small technical rabbit hole detail rather than disrupt momentum when the group is already aligned. I’m still learning and adapting myself, but this distinction has been key to working effectively.

Why are you #ProudlyPerficient?

John 6

I’m #ProudlyPerficient because I get to work alongside sharp, highly adaptive people who are always ready to dive in and get things done. Internally, there’s a fast pace and a bias toward action, so I’ve learned that often you need to step up, assign roles, and lead decisively. It’s not about being the loudest voice in the room; it’s about clarity, support, and knowing when to speak up and when to stay focused on the goal. That kind of teamwork and trust is what gets stuff done.

I appreciate how differently we show up for clients— collaborative, patient, meeting them where they are. That flexibility between both modes while staying grounded in the work is what makes Perficient special. We’re not just delivering solutions; we’re building alignment. I’m proud to be a part of that.

How has collaborating with our global teams shaped your growth journey at Perficient?
I’ve been leading global teams for many years, and the approach is consistent—find the people who make the extra effort to communicate, align, and get things done. Whether they’re in Latin America, India, or elsewhere, those relationships are what get “it” done. Building that network, finding your go-to experts, and recognizing talent across borders have been the most rewarding parts of my journey.

How does staying up to date with evolving technologies help you better serve clients?

One of my goals is to deepen my understanding of how to use local large language models (LLMs) in secure, practical ways. It’s an incredible accelerator for learning and staying up to speed. With a manufacturing client, I used an LLM to help map two complex database schemas. By feeding in just the field names and a few sample rows, the model was able to do most of the heavy lifting in identifying how the old system aligned with the new one. It wasn’t perfect, but it saved a lot of time and gave us a strong head start. Continuing to explore how AI can support data strategy and problem-solving is a key part of my growth path.

What does being an AI-first company mean to you?
To me, being an AI-first company means starting from a place where AI is always considered not only as a solution itself but also as an accelerator to identify the solution and the steps to get there. It is a new way of thinking that saves us time and our clients’ money.

At Perficient, we approach AI with purpose and lead conversations when it makes sense to lead with it and when it does not. That level of thoughtfulness is part of what sets us apart.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

John 4

Outside of work, I spend a lot of time with my family. My oldest son lives just four doors down, and we’re often outside fishing with the grandkids. I also support my wife, who went from being a stay-at-home mom to now serving as Dean of the School of Health Sciences over several programs. I’m the primary cook at home and like making healthy meals. I’m also into photography, especially aurora and space photography. I’ve been able to get some great shots even from our backyard in the city. Staying active is also a big focus of mine, so we spend a lot of time out in nature.

Perficient unites the brightest minds to help the world’s most admired brands embrace AI-driven innovation with trust and care. Sushma Kulkarni, a delivery lead and solutions architect in Perficient’s Data Solutions practice, brings a mindset of continuous learning and strategic problem solving to every client engagement. Over the past year and a half, she has built trust as a leader through empathy and transparency, effectively bridging the gap between business stakeholders and technical teams. Continue reading to discover how her diverse industry experience and keen interest in emerging technologies have shaped her leadership approach.

What is your role? Describe a typical day in your life.

As a delivery lead and solutions architect, I wear multiple hats. I am a project manager and a scrum master, ensuring that we deliver on our promises to clients. My job is well-aligned with what I like to do. My managers and leaders support my professional growth, and I’ve been pursuing certifications consistently for the past 20 months since joining Perficient. When managing projects, I dive into whatever technology is needed to stay ahead of the curve. This lets me relate to my team, appreciate their work, and see the challenges from their point of view. As a project manager, I believe my role goes beyond asking for updates. It’s about understanding my team’s obstacles and making their jobs easier and fairer.

How does your finance background apply to your current role?

As you grow, you become a well-rounded professional. It helps to look at problems from various perspectives. My experience spans roles as an accountant, auditor, and SOX auditor, managing a wide range of responsibilities throughout my career. I started as a chartered accountant and became a certified public accountant (CPA) after moving to the U.S. Along the way, I earned several certifications, including the Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).

Eventually, I transitioned into the IT industry as a business analyst because I was working closely with IT and business teams. I became a middleman who could translate business requirements into technical language. For this role, I learned many new technologies through training and certifications. This background gives me a unique perspective because I can understand the challenges of both business users and IT teams, and I translate between them well.

Whether big or small, how do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities, or teams?

I make a difference by understanding our clients’ needs and exceeding expectations. A key practice I follow is discussing work internally with my team before taking anything to the client. This review helps catch most issues early. It’s always good to have a different set of eyes review, as quality assurance (QA) helps here. When I encourage my colleagues to review each other’s work, I ask them if someone else has already checked it. Often, the second reviewer points out something that was missing.

By the time we meet with the client, all work is thoroughly reviewed. Clients often say their job is easier because we’ve already done the legwork. We provide them with screenshots of our internal testing as evidence. Coming from an auditing background, I believe that doing the work is not enough. We should also be able to prove it. Showing the clients what we did, including the defects we found and fixed, builds confidence and reassures clients that nothing was overlooked.

What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?

The first data transformation project I worked on at Perficient involved Databricks, which I initially knew very little about. Before my client interview, I spent an entire week preparing and took some training. The interview went well, and it was a great moment for me. They asked me a question I didn’t know the answer to, and I was honest in my response. Since I was applying for a project manager role, the interviewers didn’t expect me to know the intricacies of the technology. They appreciated my honesty and offered me the role.

As a takeaway, I decided to learn Databricks. Within two months, I earned my first Databricks certification. Since then, I have completed four certifications. Passing the interview and delivering the project successfully were proud moments for me.

What has your experience at Perficient taught you?

My managers and leaders encourage me to take training during office hours and are super supportive of my professional development. I find this unique about Perficient because I enjoy learning and growing in my role. My managers motivate me, and I also encourage training and knowledge sharing among my teammates. This enthusiasm is contagious—everyone wants to participate, which is rewarding because we all benefit from it.

I’m also an early riser and like to start my day by connecting with my colleagues personally. What sets Perficient apart is our appreciation for our colleagues’ time; no one is expected to work beyond certain hours. Our people and culture truly respect our global colleagues, no matter their location.

Why did you choose Perficient? What keeps you here?

I joined Perficient because of my previous manager, who valued my work, so I felt at home right from the start. Everyone I’ve met is professional and yet personal. I can openly discuss problems with my teammates. I’m adaptive and flexible with them, making sure that no one feels pressured by their workload. When needed, we step in to help and offload tasks within the team. We are committed to timely delivery but can still accommodate our people.

How have you grown your career at Perficient?

I’ve earned several Databricks certifications—including Data Analyst Associate, Data Engineer Associate, Gen AI Engineer Associate, and Machine Learning Engineer Associate—to gain a broad understanding of upcoming technology. My recent project involved Azure, so I did the Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification. Last year, I also completed the Certified SAFe® Agilist. Recently, I completed the Registered Product Owner certification.

Beyond certifications, I regularly train to stay aligned with projects. This helps me communicate effectively with my team, understand their work, and contribute meaningfully. I have grown through the different projects I’m involved in, and working in our Data Solutions team has encouraged me to learn beyond any single technology through collaboration. My latest growth area has been in AI and machine learning, which is quite exciting.

How have your AI skills contributed to your growth?

AI has helped me save time on simple tasks, like uploading meeting transcripts and asking Scarlett or Microsoft Copilot to create a summary or draft an email for me. If I’m creating a presentation, I’ll ask AI to draft slides for me. I’ve also used AI to create project tasks and support our project management work. It’s not perfect, but it saves a lot of time—so why not use the technology? There are so many things it can do.

With our leadership embracing an AI-first approach, I want to be using these technologies. My goal is to be equipped with AI and use it more often. That way, we are not just working hard but also working smart.

If you had to define yourself using one Perficient value, which would it be and why?

I’d pick integrity and collaboration. Collaboration isn’t just with our teammates—it includes clients too; when I say, “my team,” I mean both Perficient and the client. Integrity means I’m upfront about what’s possible, and I deliver honestly.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I’m very fond of pets and animals. I like to go on long walks and visit animal sanctuaries. Along the way, I enjoy the beauty of nature—watching the trees, leaves, and flowers. I’m always happy to see the animals, whether they’re pets or wildlife.

I also love music, mainly North Indian classical music, but I enjoy other genres too. We’re on screens almost all the time, so stepping away to listen to music is calming.

We’re not only embracing the future at Perficient—we’re building it. As a global AI-first consultancy, we empower our people to lead with innovation, curiosity, and compassion. Our teams are helping the world’s most admired brands harness the power of generative AI to reimagine customer experiences, streamline operations, and drive meaningful transformation. At the heart of this is our people who play a vital role in shaping a collaborative culture that challenges convention and celebrates growth.

Sarah McDowell, a Director in our Salesforce Business Unit (BU), recently shared her journey into the technology industry, passion for solving complex problems, and how she’s helping shape the future of AI-powered experiences. Continue reading to learn how Sarah’s unconventional path, people-first mindset, and love for technology are making a difference at Perficient.

When did you join Perficient and what is your role? Describe a typical day in the life.

I’ve been with Perficient since 2020 and joined right as the pandemic shifted everything to remote work. I’ve loved every minute of the past five years. I’m a Director working with one of our larger accounts in the Salesforce BU. I’ve grown through several roles—starting as a Business Analyst, then Lead Business Analyst, Senior Solutions Architect, and now Director. Over the years, I’ve helped solve our clients’ problems through architecture design, workshops, calls, and troubleshooting. I work across four to five scrum teams with different product owners, spending much of my day designing for future development.

My favorite part is connecting with and empowering people. I helped build a more global team by onboarding new members from Latin America onto the account. A program manager and I flew to Colombia to launch a boot camp, forming strong relationships that continue to this day. I’ve also mentored a few team members on their own paths. The way we connect and build each other up is my favorite thing.

Why did you choose Perficient?

My story isn’t your typical ‘I got into software’ story. I thought I was destined for social work because I love people, building connections, and helping others solve problems. Fascinated by psychology, I worked at a crisis line after college where I learned to de-escalate situations and support people from all walks of life. That led to working with children and spending a few years working with Child Protective Services in Texas.

While rewarding, the work was emotionally taxing, especially once I started a family. I still wanted to solve problems and work with people, so I transitioned into the technology industry. During my time at an oil and gas company, I discovered they were using antiquated processes. I completely digitized the entire process and built a software tracking process for people to check documents in and out.

I dove into Salesforce, completed trailheads, and earned my first Marketing Cloud certification. That led to my first role as a Salesforce Marketing Cloud Admin at a healthcare company, where I spent a couple of years before finding Perficient. I immediately fell in love with Perficient’s culture, the people, and how we collaborate with clients to solve problems.

What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?

Personally, I’m most proud of my family. I’m a mother of two boys who are 14 and 10 years old. My husband and I work hard to create a harmonious, united home built on love and compassion. He’s been incredibly supportive of my career change, always championing my growth and accomplishments.

Professionally, I’m proud of becoming the person I’ve always aspired to be. I still have my first Marketing Cloud certification on the wall. It symbolizes that transformation. I earned my first certification as a Marketing Cloud Email Specialist, where I learned how to build emails, journeys, queries, and automations—like the reminder emails you receive when you leave something in your online cart.

Then I earned the Einstein Prediction Builder certification, which is where AI comes in. You can program AI to predict things like, ‘What’s the likelihood Sarah will buy red shoes next quarter?’ If the likelihood is high, it will put her in a marketing journey. Tools like Prediction Builder and Einstein Analytics are targeting personalized emails for each person.

What I’m most excited about in the future is how AI can change the way we’re doing everything. The way we shop, the way we look at things, the way we do our work every day, how we build our stories, and how we create our emails. It’s a mindset shift that is exciting to be a part of.

How is your team using AI at Perficient?

Our Salesforce BU is looking at new AI tools, and our clients want to incorporate them into their marketing campaigns. It’s important to understand how AI works and think about the essential building blocks needed to get started. We’re finding that many clients want to use AI, but they can’t yet because their data or systems aren’t set up to support it. The first step is understanding their systems and preparing them for AI. If you implement tools without the prep work, it’s like shoving an engine on a go-kart—it’s not going anywhere. But if we get them ready, they can fully leverage the AI everyone’s excited about.

One of the projects I’m working on is a pilot with personalized marketing to set up the foundation for using AI tools. There are subtle ways that you can use AI when you’re building out an email or writing user stories. We’ve created a standardized template for all the business analysts, so everyone has a consistent experience. That’s what excites me about my daily work.

What challenges do you see with AI that we’ll need to navigate?

The biggest challenge is that every client is a little different in how we support them with AI and what tools will work. They may not be ready to ingest AI and might need help preparing their systems. A lot of people are excited about AI, but not many know how to implement it or set themselves up for success. That’s going to be the biggest hurdle in the next few years—helping clients get to a point where they can fully use AI in the best capacity to be successful. We’re seeing a lot of companies that implement AI too quickly. They don’t have things set up correctly, they fail, and then they don’t want to use the tools again.

How do you make a difference?

Getting involved in your local community can be a great way to give back. From a sociology standpoint, you have circles of impact with your family, community, and work. Then these circles expand from there. I’m most proud of the impact I’ve had on my family. They’re good and honest people. My kids are swimmers. I’m very passionate about swimming, and I am a part of the local community swim boards.

I also mentored high school students through the Mark Cuban Foundation AI Bootcamp. These kids are amazing and very smart. It’s so fun because they bring in high school kids that are interested in AI and technology. They give them use cases, and they build prototypes. They show off their prototypes, and then, as mentors, we get to vote on which one we thought would have the biggest impact. It’s amazing to see what their ideas are and help guide them.

What advice would you give to someone starting their career at Perficient?

Speak up. If you want something, say it. I had a manager who asked where I wanted to be in five years and helped me build a plan to get there. I said I wanted to be a solutions architect, and she guided me every step of the way. It was my journey—she was just there to support it.

For someone new, the sky’s the limit. Talk about what you want and ask for help. Connecting with others and celebrating accomplishments together makes the work more enjoyable. I love seeing the shoutouts and people championing each other. It’s fun to read and makes me feel empowered. It builds the energy to come to work knowing that there are people out there working just as hard as I am, and they’re doing great things.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I love archery—not hunting, just target practice. I also love supporting my kids. One is in theater and gymnastics and recently joined Descendants: The Musical. The other is in marching band and placed in the top ten at Nationals last year, playing the French horn and the Mellophone.

I try to have work-life balance, so I can be there for my kids and family. When I travel, I make sure I’m home on weekends for their performances and competitions. My husband is supportive—he even learned how to do eyeliner for my son in theater because I was away for a couple days. We’re all learning together.

One Team, One Breath: Celebrating International Yoga Day at Perficient Nagpur & Pune https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/07/22/one-team-one-breath-celebrating-international-yoga-day-at-perficient-nagpur-pune/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/07/22/one-team-one-breath-celebrating-international-yoga-day-at-perficient-nagpur-pune/#respond Tue, 22 Jul 2025 07:38:38 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=384748

The Yogic Way

What happens when ancient mindfulness practices meet a modern workplace? You get International Yoga Day at Perficient – a thoughtful pause in the middle of our fast-paced workday, filled with movement, calm, and connection.

Yoga, not just a term, not even a physical practice: it’s a celebration of harmony between the mind, body, and spirit. Its beauty lies in its simplicity, just a breath, a stretch, a moment of awareness and yet its impact runs deep, purifying our thoughts, strengthening our inner self, and nurturing emotional resilience.

We experienced the same when we welcomed yoga into our office on the International Yoga Day. With many thoughts and discussions, meetings and on-floor preparations, we celebrated this International Yoga the- The Yogic Way at both Nagpur and Pune offices. From subtle stretches to intentional breathing, it was a shared moment of grounding that left a lasting impression. Organized under the Women in Tech India ERG, the event was a thoughtful blend of mindfulness, creativity, and community spirit.

Yoga for Everyone, Everywhere

At our Nagpur office, the celebration started in a refreshing way across every floor with a serene 20-minute experience. No yoga mats, no complex postures, same workspace, familiar chairs, and movements anyone could enjoy right from their desks.

We dimmed the lights, played gentle, calming music, and the environment become part of the flow. The Yoga instructor guided us through stretches, mindful breaths, and poses perfect for the workplace. Shoulder rolls that melted away stress, twists that aligned the spine, neck releases – small movements that made a big difference.

At our Pune office, we hosted a 45-minute yoga session for everyone right at their workstations. A refreshing 45-minute yoga session that blended chair yoga, stretching exercises, Surya Namaskar, and meditation – offering a perfect mid-day reset to boost both physical vitality and mental clarity. The session was thoughtfully designed to accommodate all fitness levels, making it easy for everyone to participate and benefit. From energizing stretches to calming mindfulness practices, the experience helped reduce stress, improve posture, and foster a sense of balance and well-being.

Despite packed schedules, people joined in with genuine enthusiasm. There was curiosity, laughter, a bit of wobbling, and plenty of smiles. Whether someone was trying yoga for the first time or reconnecting with an old habit, the vibe was relaxed, inclusive, and deeply refreshing.

A Blend of Wellness and Creativity

To complement the physical practice of yoga, we also invited teams to reflect on what balance and mindfulness meant to them – creatively. Our Poster + Photo Submission Activity was open to everyone, and the idea was simple to submit:

  • Yoga Asana Photo Showcase: A photo of themself striking their favorite yoga pose
  • Yoga Facts: A fun or insightful fact about yoga or how it’s benefited their well-being
  • Poster Making: A handmade poster or banner that captures the essence of yoga and balance

The submissions were vibrant, heartfelt, and filled with personality. Some colleagues sent in photos striking warrior or tree poses, while others channeled their artistic side through colorful, thoughtful posters. There were wellness quotes, breathing tips, hand-drawn asanas — even doodles of their Yoga Day experience.

The photo boards quickly filled up and turned into mini-inspiration corners in both offices — a refreshing reminder of how wellness can be fun, personal, and proudly on display.

Voices from the Event: Little Wins, Big Impact

To capture the spirit of the day, here are a few reflections shared by our colleagues from Nagpur and Pune:

  • Sachit Naik, Senior Technical Consultant: I really enjoyed the sense of community and calm at the event. Practicing yoga in the office with so many people created a powerful and peaceful energy that was truly uplifting.
  • Punyaa Dixit, Intern Consulting: As an intern, this was my first time participating in an International Yoga Day celebration at the office, and it was truly refreshing! It reminded me how important it is to move around and include simple exercises in our daily routine – especially during long workdays.
  • Kriti Gupta, Technical Consultant: It was refreshing to see so many colleagues come together with such positive energy. My key takeaway was how just a few minutes of stretching and focused breathing can make a big difference in our day-to-day wellbeing
  • Chinmay Dhuri, Senior Technical Consultant: I don’t regularly practice yoga, but attending the Yoga Day session was a truly refreshing and valuable experience. The session gave me a glimpse into the benefits of yoga, not just physically but also mentally. I’m grateful for the opportunity and it has definitely inspired me to consider including yoga in my routine.

Unified Message of Balance and Unity

The theme of the event was simple yet powerful: Yoga Day.  This celebration wasn’t about mastering yoga. It was about showing up – with curiosity, presence, and a willingness to pause. It served as a reminder that yoga is more than just physical movement – it’s a practice that nurtures mental clarity, emotional balance, and overall well-being. It was about reminding ourselves that wellness doesn’t require fancy gear or hours of time. Sometimes, all it takes is a chair, a deep breath, a stretch, and a little intention.

This celebration was more than just a session – it was a reflection of Perficient’s people-first culture and the impact of employee-led initiatives like WIT India ERG. By creating space for wellness, connection, and creativity, we continue to build a workplace where everyone feels supported – not just in what they do, but in who they are.

Kevin Galli Builds Strong Client Relationships with Experience Design and Strategic Problem Solving https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/07/14/kevin-galli-builds-strong-client-relationships-with-experience-design-and-strategic-problem-solving/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/07/14/kevin-galli-builds-strong-client-relationships-with-experience-design-and-strategic-problem-solving/#respond Mon, 14 Jul 2025 13:32:57 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=382759

As a fast-growing and dynamic global company, our people are key to Perficient’s growth and success. Each colleague has a unique perspective to share, and through our People of Perficient series, we’re capturing a glimpse into the profound impact each person is making around the world.

We recently sat down with Kevin Galli, a Director for Perficient’s Experience Design practice, who brings exponential value by creating strong client relationships, navigating complex projects with agility, and achieving meaningful results that transform and amplify business growth. Continue reading to learn more about his expertise in experience design and digital marketing, his support of Perficient’s PRISM ERG, and how he’s creating a work environment that champions the success of every colleague.

What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life.

I’ve been with Perficient since 2019, and I started as a Senior Project Manager for a healthcare client and a real estate client. Within the first year, I quickly came to appreciate the culture and focus of Experience Design and Digital Marketing, which emphasizes trust and team empowerment, especially for team leaders. One of our key early wins was completing an enterprise-level healthcare UX and design system that could be easily tailored for regional site needs.

At Perficient, I really appreciate the autonomy to solve problems with support. That mindset made me feel confident in tackling bigger challenges early on. After two or three years, we undertook a complex and critical new project with another healthcare client, involving a site design overhaul and Sitecore implementation. This large project included multiple Business Units (BUs), workstreams and leadership roles, providing a great learning opportunity. My biggest takeaway: my leadership trusts me to take the wheel and drive, and work through the challenges as a team along the way.

Leadership recognized my potential, promoting me to a Project Management Team Lead position and subsequently a Director role where I could coach and mentor direct reports. I’ve gained a lot of confidence through my experience working with our clients across multiple industries. I’ve learned that I can tackle most challenges, make heads or tails of it, and figure out solutions to help our clients. I’ve found that building camaraderie and being my genuine self goes a long way for both our internal team and client relationships.

What do you enjoy the most about your role and Experience Design?

Last year, I became a Director in our Experience Design team. I appreciate the trust the company places in its people at all levels and the confidence our leaders have in me. I enjoy building relationships and meeting new team members and clients. I have learned that tough conversations are a part of the job, but they are better when you have built strong relationships. It’s rewarding to have those conversations even though they can be tricky; I’ve learned it’s actually a disservice not to have those direct conversations as everyone misses out on the opportunity for continued growth.

I’m enjoying a project that we’re currently working on for a large university in California, which has an interesting challenge due to the university’s diverse branding needs and organizational structure. They aim for a broader national presence while managing a complex matrix of educational departments, healthcare groups, and shared services. Each department wants autonomy in their messaging, making it difficult to maintain a consistent brand voice. We are leading a large envision project for them, transitioning into a build phase. This involves analyzing their internal and public-facing sites, conducting content and analytics analysis, and comparing features against competitors.

We’re providing recommendations for immediate and future improvements, including customer journeys and personas, information architecture, visual direction, wireframes, and visual design. Additionally, we’re identifying technology gaps and conducting audience research through stakeholder and customer interviews to understand the target audience and appropriate messaging. It’s a complex program, but the people involved are wonderful to work with.

What’s your favorite part of what you do?

Besides building relationships, I’m outcome driven. I love seeing a well-thought-out plan coalesce into something that makes our clients happy and answers their questions, even the ones they didn’t think to ask. I’m constantly amazed by the talent around me. Working with such skilled subject matter advisors in their disciplines who impress our clients is incredible. Seeing clients satisfied and equipped with actionable insights to improve their business is the best part. One of my favorite moments on any engagement is getting our clients to let their guard down a bit. It shows they trust us and we’re well-positioned to handle any challenges coming our way.

I think celebrating with the team is very closely tied to this. I try to do that as often as I can, especially when we reach a milestone. There are a lot of people at Perficient who are not directly involved in the client day-to-day but still support the work we’re doing. It’s very important to give shoutouts to those folks too. When I worked as a Delivery Director for a Minneapolis-based client in the energy sector, our UX Design team celebrated birthdays and found fun excuses to wear different costumes and props: novelty glasses, hats, the goofier the better. I started acquiring so many things and now have a prop closet behind my desk filled with capes, hoodies, and hats so I’m always ready to surprise and celebrate with others.

Whether big or small, how do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities or teams?

Kevin’s husband, Anthony, and their daughter, Hayden, at the Lincoln Park Zoo.

I try to pay attention to everyone within Perficient, whether they’re on my team or not, and be mindful of who might feel ‘othered’. Offering support and empathy without prying can be helpful. If someone’s open to discussing, I want them to feel supported.

As part of the LGBTQ+ community, I didn’t always have the confidence to be open about this topic, but I made the conscious decision to do so midway in my career. It took courage. I wasn’t sure I had to do that. I want to be an example for others, showing them that it’s possible to be open and find support if and when they’re ready for that. I’m thrilled we have our own group now dedicated to inclusion in the workplace – I think Perficient’s PRISM ERG is amazing.

What advice would you give to colleagues who are just starting their career with Perficient?

We are a big, growing, and ambitious company. It can be overwhelming at first. You might be thrown into a project and talking to clients right away. This can be jarring depending on your background, but there’s a real payoff in meeting new people and getting used to Perficient’s culture. Within six months, you’ll understand how our BUs are organized and how your specific BU operates. It can be daunting initially, but know you have support and that our wonderful culture makes it worth it. At Perficient, we have scrappy folks who dig in and ask, “What does it take?” I love that.

For anyone new, dig in, figure out your work, lean on your colleagues for support, and lean into what it takes to get the job done.

With Perficient’s vision and mission statement in mind, how do you obsess over outcomes?

Obsessing over outcomes stands out to me because I am very outcome driven, and I love making things happen. In consulting, the value we provide comes from our conversations: building relationships, actively advising our clients, offering practical ideas and inspiration in parallel, educating team members, and sharing insights. The real value is in delivering meaningful results that help clients transform their business.

Whether it’s implementing a system, pitching ideas, working on deliverables, or looking for opportunities to grow our business, reaching that end point is what I love the most. Let’s put some table stakes down, create a plan, and execute it. I see a lot of enthusiasm for this approach at Perficient, and I think it’s great.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Kevin spending time with Hayden at a restaurant by the river.

My husband, Anthony, and I have a six-year-old daughter, Hayden. We love Detroit Tigers baseball games. I love going, but it’s mostly for Hayden. She’s a kiddo with special needs, and she goes to a school near us that provides daily care and therapy with a roomful of amazing classmates. There are certain things she can’t do, but we focus more on her happiness and what she can do. When you see her at a Tigers game, she’ll pull herself up to the railing and jump up and down for nearly an hour, all smiles and giggles. Between the game itself and just watching her, it’s the best thing ever.

I’m proud of the things that we do for my daughter to help her live a happy and fulfilling life. There’s a program in Chicago, Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, that works with kids like Hayden. We’ve been able to spend a month living in Chicago each year to take her to therapy each day, and she does so well during it. Having the ability to do something like that is incredible. I’ve never worked at a company before that allowed this kind of flexibility.

Francisco Bergeret Paves the Way Through Strong Leadership at Perficient https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/07/11/francisco-bergeret-leadership/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/07/11/francisco-bergeret-leadership/#respond Fri, 11 Jul 2025 13:55:25 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=382608

Growth happens when people feel heard, supported, and empowered to lead with purpose. That belief shapes our culture at Perficient, and Francisco Bergeret, a technical architect based in Uruguay, brings it to life through his curiosity, dedication, and strong leadership.

His unique growth path reflects both professional achievement and meaningful impact. Fransico’s authenticity and leadership make him a vital part of our story at Perficient. We recently sat down with him to learn more about what motivates him to live Perficient’s values every day.

How have you grown your career with Perficient?

My career at Perficient has grown organically. I started as a developer and gradually took on more responsibility, eventually becoming a Tech Lead. That transition felt natural as I was already stepping up, bridging the gap between technical teams and business stakeholders, and helping align project goals.

A key part of my growth was learning to actively invest in the team’s success. I led efforts to arrange training sessions, secure resources, and ensure new talent was a strong technical and cultural fit. This was crucial for maintaining our project’s identity. Every day brings new opportunities and challenges to learn from, and I developed strong organizational and communication skills that continue to serve me today.

How would you describe your team’s culture and dynamic? What’s a day at the office like?

When I joined Perficient, most of my teammates were based in Chile and Colombia, so being in Uruguay meant fully embracing a remote-first culture. I couldn’t just walk into an office to connect. We built relationships through shared challenges, and later, in-person meetups helped reinforce those bonds.

Francisco Team

Francisco had the opportunity to meet his team in person during a visit to Medellin.

There’s no single definition of a typical day. One day I might support a release, review a system design, investigate a production issue, or explore a proof of concept. Another day, I might focus on planning—aligning priorities, scoping work, or giving feedback on solutions.

What remains consistent is our team culture: we value transparency, trust, and initiative. People are encouraged to take ownership, speak up, and learn from their mistakes. Most importantly, we focus on understanding client needs and building meaningful, long-term solutions.

How do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities, or teams?

I try to lead by example by taking ownership wherever I can, even when it’s beyond my formal responsibilities. If something needs attention, I don’t wait for someone else to act. I focus on where I can contribute and follow through. That mindset has helped me build trust across teams and make a meaningful impact beyond my defined role.

For me, leadership also means supporting others. I step in when a teammate needs support, whether it is with making technical decisions, finding root causes, or simply being present. Over time, I’ve learned to balance problem-solving with offering fresh perspectives. Making a difference often comes down to showing up, being available, and saying “yes,” even when it’s outside your comfort zone.

What advice would you give to colleagues who are starting their career with Perficient?

Perficient offers many opportunities for growth—whether through learning programs, hands-on experience, or getting involved in different projects and initiatives. You can shape your career in a way that’s meaningful to you by following your interests and staying open to new challenges. Don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone.

Most importantly, build connections. Our people bring diverse backgrounds and perspectives, and those relationships often lead to unexpected opportunities. Be curious, ask questions, and grow through collaboration—it’s one of the best ways to lead your own development journey.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Francisco Basketball TeamOutside of work, I enjoy spending time with friends—whether it’s going out, playing games, or simply having a good conversation. I also love watching movies and TV series, reading, and staying active through sports—especially basketball, which has always been my lifelong passion.

Francisco Pets

People are often surprised to learn that I was on the roster of a professional basketball team in Uruguay’s third division. I didn’t play, but the team won the championship and was promoted that season. One day, I’ll tell my grandkids I was a champion, maybe leaving out a few details. I even kept the newspaper photo to prove it.

I spend a lot of time with my two dachshunds, Simón and Luka. They grew beside me as I worked, and they have become familiar faces on video calls. These everyday moments bring a sense of joy and connection, even during the busiest weeks.

In this People of Perficient profile, we’ll explore Erin’s expertise, passion for continuous learning, and remarkable career journey over the past 13 years at Perficient.

What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life.

I began my career with Perficient as a Senior Technical Consultant after a decade at a large consulting firm. Over the years, I progressed through various levels. About four years ago, I was promoted to Delivery Director. Most recently, I have taken on the role of Practice Director of Modern Work and Security. At each stage, I felt prepared and empowered to embrace new responsibilities, thanks to the invaluable lessons learned along the way. Every engagement, pursuit, and customer interaction has imparted knowledge that I carry forward into each new initiative.

As a Practice Director, I have a handful of responsibilities in various areas. I work with my team to develop, modify, and execute the strategic vision for our Microsoft Modern Work and Security practices. I support with aligning the vision with business goals and market trends, while monitoring revenue and utilization. I oversee the project delivery of solutions, acting as a point of escalation for both internal and customer issues. From a team management perspective, I provide guidance to a team of skilled directors, consultants, architects, and developers. Lastly, I support pre-sales activities, collaborate with sales and marketing teams, and help pursuit teams through the sales cycle.

How do you explain your job to family, friends, or children?

When asked, “What do you do?” I typically say, “I help our sales organization sell Microsoft solutions, and our team helps our customers roll out Microsoft capabilities like Teams and SharePoint to their organizations.”

Whether big or small, how do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities, or teams?

One of the most rewarding aspects of my role is fostering an environment where my team members can thrive. I am committed to ensuring that they are engaged in meaningful and enjoyable work, feel valued for their contributions, and receive the support they need to succeed. Their well-being and professional satisfaction are paramount, and I am dedicated to being their advocate.

What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?

Personally, my greatest achievement is undoubtedly my children, of whom I am immensely proud. Family is always my top priority, and their well-being and happiness are essential.

Professionally, my most significant achievement was the successful delivery of an application for an exceptionally challenging project with 86 consultants in 11 different BUs. I am incredibly proud of our consultants for going live with this application. It was a remarkable demonstration of Perficient’s collaboration and dedication, which showcased our commitment to excellence even in the face of daunting circumstances.

With Perficient’s mission statement in mind, why do we obsess over outcomes?

If you ask Cecilia Prieto what makes her proud to be at Perficient, her answer is simple but powerful: “The people.” And it’s not just something she says—it’s how she works, leads, and shows up every day.

As a lead talent acquisition specialist – Focal Point, Cecilia plays a critical role in connecting top talent with opportunity. For over five and a half years, she has partnered closely with our different portfolios to ensure that the right people are in the right roles—whether sourced from within our talent pool or brought in from outside the organization.

“My job is all about finding the best professional match for our clients,” said Cecilia. “But beyond that, it’s about listening, solving problems, and helping people grow.”

A Day in the Life

From managing candidate pipelines to supporting HR and site initiatives in Uruguay, no two days are ever quite the same for Cecilia. She is known for her proactive mindset and ability to turn challenges into solutions—something that is deeply appreciated by both her team and our clients.

Her favorite Perficient value? Collaboration. It fuels her passion and shapes her leadership.

“I truly believe the best results come from teamwork and diverse perspectives. When we support each other, we all grow.”

Balancing Work and Life—with Heart

Cecilia is passionate about maintaining a healthy work-life balance. Whether it’s walking along the rambla, cooking with family, or just enjoying a good conversation, she knows how to recharge so she can bring her best self to work.

Jeff Molsen Leads With Knowledge and Empathy https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/06/16/jeff-molsen-leads-with-knowledge-and-empathy/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/06/16/jeff-molsen-leads-with-knowledge-and-empathy/#respond Mon, 16 Jun 2025 18:03:27 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=382699

Perficient’s innovative edge is fueled by talented colleagues who shatter boundaries and go beyond the expected. Our strength lies in the people who bring passion, expertise, and a deep knowledge and understanding to every project. Jeff Molsen, a senior technical architect, embodies this spirit. From the specialized aspects of his role to leading others through mentorship, Jeff’s journey shows how knowledge and empathy intertwine to drive success.

Jeff Molsen headshot

Keep reading to see how Jeff’s approach to leadership and community-building makes a difference at Perficient.

When did you join Perficient, and what are your responsibilities in your current role?

I joined Perficient in March 2021, and I am a senior technical architect in the Adobe Business Unit. I mostly work with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). I’m also a career counselor and wear many hats, so my day-to-day can vary quite a bit.

As a senior technical architect, I’m responsible for the technical delivery of a project. I lead the dev team and direct them on the approach for developing solutions. I also work closely with the project leaders, such as a project manager and business analyst, to make sure we understand the client’s needs. I don’t do as much development work anymore, but I work on proofs of concept that are often related to new technologies.

Are you a member of any culture groups at Perficient?

I joined the Women in Technology (WiT) Employee Resource Group (ERG) within my first month of joining Perficient. I’m part of the career growth committee, and I helped with the mentorship program early on in its development. I used my experience as an architect to lead developers in creating the matching program. My role was to guide them as well as write copy to make the content clear and concise.

In the WiT Mentorship Program, both the mentor and mentee can learn from each other. You get to know people from across the organization, gain a different perspective, and expand your network.

Can you tell us more about your experience participating in Perficient’s Leading With Impact Program? What were some of your takeaways?

It was a very valuable experience, and they broke the program down into lots of manageable sections. We started out with learning how to lead yourself because you need to know how to manage yourself before you can effectively lead others. There was also education around communication and cross-cultural competence. Since Perficient is a global company with colleagues around the world, it’s important to know how to work with people of different backgrounds and communication styles.

We also talked about how to have difficult conversations and approach others with a growth mindset. This comes down to approaching the situation with empathy and exploring ways to grow together to make positive changes.

Throughout the program, we met in smaller cohorts consisting of about five or six colleagues. We did learning activities and discussed topics in these small groups. It was really helpful to hear different opinions and learn from each other’s experiences to deepen our understanding together.

What advice would you give to colleagues who are starting their careers with Perficient?

Jeff Molsen

My advice is to get involved with groups at Perficient, whether that’s an ERG or another kind of group. It can be particularly helpful if it’s something outside of your everyday role. This gives you an opportunity to interact with people across the organization and from different cultures. An important part of building your career is building your personal brand. Getting involved and working with all kinds of people helps you develop that.

Whether big or small, how do you make a difference for our clients, colleagues, communities, or teams?

I try to bring empathy and collaboration to everything I do. I do this for our clients by listening closely to understand what their needs are and then guiding them toward the best solution. As a career counselor, I make a difference through mentoring. I have always been passionate about teaching and advocating for others.

What are your proudest accomplishments in your work?

I keep a log of my accomplishments, and this is something I recommend to everyone because it helps you keep track of your progress. My proudest accomplishments are a lot of little things, but most recently, I’m proud of an event I helped coordinate with WiT. I helped organize and host an allyship event with a guest speaker who spoke about how to be an ally. It was titled, “The Inclusive Ally and Leader: Identifying Your Role in Advancing Equity.”

The WiT ERG sponsored it and invited the Cultural Connections and PRISM ERGs to participate in this event as well. It took a couple of months to plan, and I’m very proud of how it turned out.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

Life is too short, so I’m passionate about all kinds of stuff. My goal in life is to grow in both knowledge and empathy. I’m passionate about learning and education, and I will often watch educational videos, read, or take online classes.

I also do volunteer work, which intersects with a lot of my passions—learning about others’ experiences, growing empathy, as well as building community. Another thing I do just for fun is play board games. I like board games because they flex your mind and also build community.

Ritesh Sachdeo Shatters Boundaries in Perficient’s Quality Assurance Practice https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/06/03/ritesh-sachdeo-shatters-boundaries-in-perficients-quality-assurance-practice/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/06/03/ritesh-sachdeo-shatters-boundaries-in-perficients-quality-assurance-practice/#respond Tue, 03 Jun 2025 16:16:30 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=382065

Perficient embraces a culture of continuous learning by providing opportunities for our colleagues to enhance their skillset and drive exponential growth for our partners, clients, and global teams. We bring a commitment to excellence that resonates with every project. Our skilled Quality Assurance (QA) strategists employ a holistic approach—covering the full spectrum of strategy, testing, automation, toolsets, and additional support systems — ensuring that all products and applications exceed expectations.

Ritesh Sachdeo, a senior technical architect based out of Perficient’s Nagpur office, recently shared more about his experience supporting Perficient’s QA practice and how he has grown his career at Perficient. Continue reading to learn more about his daily responsibilities, what factors enabled his growth, and his love for exploring new dishes and cuisines.

What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life.

I have been with Perficient for more than 14 years, and I serve as the Senior Technical Architect within the QA team. I also represent the India QA team on our global QA leadership group. My day typically begins with checking emails, collaborating with colleagues, staying updated on account progress, supervising and supporting my team members, and contributing to QA pre-sales activities. I make sure that the software and applications people use, like websites or mobile apps, work perfectly before they are launched. I also lead a team that checks for any issues or bugs, and we solve them to ensure everything runs smoothly for users.

I’ve had the opportunity to lead large, complex projects and mentor junior colleagues, which helped me refine my problem-solving and strategic thinking abilities. Perficient’s emphasis on continuous learning and exposure to diverse projects is a key factor in my growth. Additionally, contributing to initiatives like both the Accessibility and Automation Centers of Excellence (CoE) and being trusted with major accounts has further honed my skills and strengthened my confidence in delivering impactful results.

What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?

One of my proudest achievements at Perficient is my journey from a Flex Developer to a Senior Technical Architect in QA. This transition required me to embrace new technologies, commit to continuous learning, and step outside my comfort zone. Successfully balancing this professional growth with personal responsibilities has been a meaningful milestone in my life. It has been immensely rewarding to lead teams, mentor colleagues, and play a key role in driving impactful QA initiatives. One of the highlights of my journey has been forming and nurturing both the Accessibility and Automation CoE, where I contributed to their growth by enabling teams to efficiently deliver higher-quality solutions.

Another standout moment was successfully overseeing a complex project under tight deadlines. Through my work, we delivered exceptional results without any escalations and received client recognition for quality work. Additionally, gaining the trust to oversee major accounts and contribute to QA pre-sales efforts has been a significant accomplishment in my career.

With Perficient’s mission statement in mind, how do you shatter boundaries?

I shatter boundaries by continuously challenging myself to grow and adapt to new opportunities. Embracing new technologies is at the core of my approach, and I actively seek out tools and methodologies to enhance efficiency and improve outcomes for both my team and our clients. I believe in stepping out of my comfort zone, whether it’s taking on leadership roles, tackling complex projects, or learning skills outside my expertise to address challenges effectively.

I’m making a difference by ensuring our clients receive reliable, high-quality solutions tailored to their needs. I support my team by mentoring and guiding them, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. For the broader QA community, I actively introduce tools and share best practices to streamline processes. Every effort I make is aimed at creating value for everyone I work with, whether clients, colleagues, or Perficient.

Additionally, I focus on fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within my team, enabling us to think beyond conventional solutions. By promoting a culture of innovation and adaptability, we are always prepared to overcome obstacles and deliver exceptional results. My goal is to push boundaries not just in technical solutions but also in how we approach teamwork, client relationships, and continuous improvement.

What advice would you give to colleagues who are starting their career with Perficient?

Stay curious and keep learning as the tech industry evolves quickly. Take on challenges, seek out new experiences, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. Build meaningful connections with your teammates and clients while focusing on delivering results. Most importantly, be patient and consistent as growth takes time, but it pays off.

I have grown my career at Perficient by continuously taking on new challenges and seeking opportunities to expand my skill set. I started my journey with the company in a technical role. Over time, I transitioned into leadership positions. Perficient has provided me with the resources and support to enhance my technical expertise and develop important leadership and team management skills.

From Operations to Project Management: How Jill Boisvert Drives Success in Perficient’s Salesforce BU

Perficient promotes meaningful growth by challenging, championing, and celebrating every colleague. We recently connected with Jill Boisvert, project manager, whose passion for knowledge sharing has ignited genuine connections within Perficient’s Salesforce Business Unit (BU). Continue reading to discover how her extensive background in business operations and commitment to relationship building paved the way for her advancement into project management.

What is your role? Describe a typical day in the life. Jill Boisvert Headshot

I am currently a project manager in our Salesforce BU. Prior to going to the consulting side, I worked in business operations, which is where I started with Perficient. Much of the work outside of my day-to-day client work involves completing frameworks and ensuring financials are on track for the project life. I’m typically on two projects part-time, and I do a lot of staff augmentation project PM work for multiple clients that involves managing project backlogs. In addition to Perficient client work that I’m a project manager on, I work with our Salesforce subcontractors and vendor coordinators to coordinate efforts on anywhere from five to 20 projects at any time.

What are your proudest accomplishments, personally and professionally? Any milestone moments at Perficient?

I was in business operations for nine years, and I really enjoyed learning about the systems. My key milestone was learning how the different systems work, which has really helped me move into a project manager role. When Perficient transitioned to Oracle Cloud, my background and knowledge helped me understand how to use these new tools. It makes me happy that I have that knowledge and can support my coworkers who don’t have that operations background. The relationships I have built at Perficient throughout my years have been my greatest accomplishment because these connections have carried over year to year. Even if I don’t talk to someone all the time, they’re just a message away

With Perficient’s mission statement in mind, why do we obsess over client outcomes?

We’re in consulting because we’re here to help our clients. If we don’t have successful outcomes or give our clients value, then they’ll likely be unhappy and won’t sign that change request. It’s the same thing with personal relationships. If there’s no value in any relationship, then what’s the point? That’s why it’s so important to keep our clients happy.

The people in the Salesforce BU love learning. Our Microsoft Teams channel is always pinging with colleagues sharing their knowledge and ways to grow and improve. It’s really beneficial for clients to work with consultants who have such a thirst for knowledge because it benefits the customer, which benefits our business and Perficient overall.

Why did you choose Perficient?

The people. The people who I connect with each day make this fun, make me happy, and keep me here. It’s the people that make Perficient. I also have an amazing manager, and I love our BU, which is very female-driven. We have a female managing director, and a lot of the directors are women. I’ve always felt strongly about women supporting women, and I love that our BU is a place where female leadership and collaboration truly shine.

How have you grown your career at Perficient?

I started out as a business coordinator supporting our Salesforce BU for nine years. Then, I had the opportunity to help bring on the Salesforce leadership during an acquisition in 2019. I then became interested in wanting to learn more about being a project manager. The leadership team knew I had a good understanding of the business, along with the operations background, and I was able to learn from them about consulting and building client relationships. It was neat to be able to take the track into project management. I started as a business consultant with the BU, grew into a lead business consultant, and am now officially a project manager.

What are you passionate about outside of work?

I am married with three kids and a dog, and I work from home. I’m passionate about keeping my family happy, just as much as I like being in a work environment where everyone is in a good mood.

I’m also passionate about enjoying the summertime and the warm weather. I’m from the Jersey Shore, and we live super close to the water. In our backyard, we have a pool, tiki bar, and firepit. We love having people over, and I enjoy going out on our friends’ boats and kayaking with my husband.

In 2024, we went to the Florida Keys twice. We took the kids and my parents in February, and my husband and I went again in November. We visited a turtle rescue, went jet skiing, and enjoyed boat charters. We just love the island and beach life, especially with the palm trees and blue water.

Juan Cardona Leads Data Innovation Across Latin America https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/05/14/juan-cardona-leads-data-innovation-across-latin-america/ https://blogs.perficient.com/2025/05/14/juan-cardona-leads-data-innovation-across-latin-america/#comments Wed, 14 May 2025 16:52:13 +0000 https://blogs.perficient.com/?p=381162

At Perficient, we believe in celebrating the people behind our success. Today, we proudly spotlight Juan Cardona Ramirez, a Technical Consultant and leader of our Latin America Data Sub-Practice. Since joining in 2023, Juan has consistently demonstrated a remarkable blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and genuine client dedication.

Based in Medellín, Colombia, Juan brings passion for data and a deep commitment to delivering meaningful business impact. His energy, leadership, and innovative mindset have played a pivotal role in expanding our data capabilities across the region. His journey reflects how purpose and skill can elevate both individual careers and team performance.

From Intern to Leader: The Beginning of His Journey

Juan first discovered Perficient while studying Systems and Computer Engineering at EIA University. When the company visited his campus to engage emerging talent, Juan saw more than a job opportunity—he saw a path to becoming a data engineer.

People Of Perficient Juan Cardona“What struck me most was that from day one, I wasn’t treated like an intern,” said Juan. “I was immediately included in a real project and began contributing right away.”

His internship quickly evolved into a fast-paced professional journey. Today, Juan is the leader of the Data + Intelligence Sub-Practice for Latin America and embraces a multifaceted role.

He builds technical solutions like data pipelines, leads internal training sessions such as Chill & Learn, supports pre-sales activities, and contributes to talent recruitment. No two days look the same.

“My job is very dynamic,” said Juan. “Some days focus on client work, others on internal initiatives. If I could design my ideal day, I’d spend most of it coding and learning.”

Databricks: A Partnership Beyond Borders

Juan played a key role in strengthening Perficient’s relationship with Databricks in Latin America. As one of the first to build a technical bridge with the platform in the region, he developed a strategy to support training, enablement, and positioning. People Of Perficient Juan Cardona 02

“I saw the potential to grow the Databricks partnership in Latin America,” said Juan. “I got certified, helped others get certified, and realized that certifications aren’t just validations—they’re the key to speaking the same technical and business language as Databricks.”

He now serves as a crucial link between technical and commercial teams and maintains direct communication with Databricks’ global leadership.

Insights and Achievements from Juan’s Journey in Consulting

Juan’s view of consulting evolved through his experience at Perficient. Initially, he thought his role would revolve around coding. Over time, he discovered the broader impact of consultants. Juan learned to embrace proactivity—going beyond expectations, driving purpose-led contributions, and continuously improving. He has grown significantly at Perficient, not only as a data engineer, but also as a well-rounded professional.

“Being a consultant goes beyond code,” said Juan. “It’s about empathy, adaptability, strategic thinking, and finding ways to deliver real value.”

People Of Perficient Juan CardonaAmong his personal milestones, Juan highlights his honors thesis: an AI system designed to detect pituitary adenomas (benign brain tumors) using MRI scans. He developed it in collaboration with his university’s medical faculty, and the project earned him the opportunity to present at an international medical conference in Peru.

“It was both a technical and human challenge—navigating a complex medical domain with limited data while integrating into a team of doctors as an engineer.” – Juan Cardona, Technical Consultant

Currently, Juan prepares to join the Databricks Championship Panel, the highest technical certification available. If successful, he would become the first Databricks Champion in Latin America within Perficient.

Balance, Passion, and Future Vision

Juan has found a unique balance between personal passion and professional excellence. Outside of work, he dedicates time to self-directed learning and stays updated on emerging technologies. He also enjoys a very different pursuit: driving. Exploring new places, especially small towns, allows him to disconnect and recharge.

People Of Perficient Juan Cardona“Driving gives me a sense of freedom,” said Juan. “It’s about enjoying the landscape and feeling like I can just move, explore, and breathe. One of my favorite experiences was driving from Mexico City to Cancun—a long, peaceful journey where I truly felt that freedom.”

Perficient’s culture of empowering its people has allowed Juan to thrive, take ownership of his growth, and lead with confidence. His pride shines through in his pursuit of excellence, client-focused mindset, and dedication to growing with the company.

Looking ahead, Juan aspires to grow into a director-level leadership role, continuing to represent Perficient with pride, vision, and a commitment to excellence.

“I feel proud to be recognized, inside and outside, as someone who represents Perficient,” said Juan. “I even carry the logo on my laptop and in my personal space.”

 _______________________________________

Juan exemplifies how technical talent, authentic leadership, and a strong sense of purpose can transform careers, teams, and organizations. His story inspires those starting their journey in technology and reflects Perficient’s values: integrity, innovation, people-first culture, collaboration, pride, and unwavering client commitment. With every step, Juan turns passion into impact and vision into real, lasting growth.
